Sunshine and Psychonauts? Platformers have always been dying.

Yes, and you call platformers dead now, yet Galaxy came out, one of the best platformers in quite a while. Great games can still come even when a genre is "dying", so I fail to see your point.

Plus, that generation saw Ratchet and Clank, Psychonauts, Jak, Sly Cooper, and Sonic Adventure. All were excellent. I certainly don't see how a time that saw all of those games could be considered the death of platformers.

I didn't make the saying up, don't ask me. Also, Ratchet and Clank is more of a combat oriented game than anything...

not that you should know but a third of sonic adventure games were combat oriented o_o. look if you don't like sonic games or have no interest for platformers just don't come to these kind of threads to cause trouble or arguments like these, and then you go and ask "why does everyone hate me?"

Then who did?

Go talk to Insomniac. They will tell you that R&C (with the exception of deadlocked) is 75% platforming, 25% action. If you don't want to trust the makers of the game on that one, go ahead, but the truth of the matter is that it was built to be primarily a platformer, and plays primarily as a platformer.

Deadlocked had much lower reviews because everyone was disappointed the ditched the 75/25 split. Ratchet is a platformer.

update:

Sega Sonic Team's lead designer Yoshihisa Hashimoto mentioned that Sonic Unleashed will be coming to PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii, the game has nothing to do with Sonic the Hedgehog (PS3/X360) and Sonic and the Secret Rings (Wii), the new title was originally planned as Sonic Adventure 3.

Now you can be disappointed. Oh, and before you praise how great the 'retro' Sonic stages are, watch carefully. They're essentially a single path where you have to press a button every once in a while. And notice the crappy beat-'em-up WereSonic stages.

Oh, and make sure your computer has no sound before watching.
