Street Fighter Movie Discussion

As if the first ever footage of Street Fighter IV wasn't enough Street Fighter news for one day, this tidbit recently hit the web: the new live action Street Fighter movie has a star.
According to ComingSoon.net, Smallville star Kristin Kreuk has been cast to appear as Chun-Li in the upcoming Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li.

The movie, set to begin filming in Thailand in March of 2008, focuses on Chun-Li and her "journey for justice" (or whatever, it doesn't really matter). 20th Century Fox will be the studio distributing the film, and as we reported a few months ago, Andrzej Bartkowiak (Doom, Romeo Must Die) will be directing.

So what do you think of Kristin in the role? She probably better start working on her thighs...

Well, I am a fan of Kristin from Smallville, but playing Chun Li? I don't know. Chun Li is my favorite Street Fighter character, so Kristin better do a good job! :D

Maybe they should have went with a foreign actress and not worry about American dubbing. Guaranteed you could find a better actress in some foreign country to play the part than an American actress.

She's a little bony but otherwise not a bad choice. Still, being as the Doom director is doing this I don't see it being any good.

My problem, she's not Asian.

Yeah, they did the same thing with the Dead or Alive movie. The casting for Kasumi (Devon Aoki) wasn't that bad, but they cast a Norwegian actress for Ayane's part.

I didn't like the casting at all for the Dead or Alive movie (Besides Tina and Bass)

2 rules about the Dead or Alive movie:
1. Don't talk about the Dead or Alive movie

2. There is no Dead or Alive movie

Yeah yeah yeah; what about the thys? are her legs gonna need padding?

Ah, but that makes perfect sense.....

Well, they've cast some more actors for the movie.

Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile) will portray Balrog
Chris Klein (American Pie) has been cast as Nash (Charlie in the U.S. games).
Rick Yune (The Fast and the Furious) will fill the role of Gen

Moon Bloodgold (Pathfinder), Edmund Chen (Saigon Eclipse), Cheng Pei Pei (Shanghai Baby), and Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas have been cast as unspecified characters.

She did good in Smallville but the Chun-Li is supposed to be Asian. I can think of some better options. I think that Ming-Na did a good job as Chun-Li in the first live action version.

Uh, she's half Chinese.

True, but it isn't it doesn't show a whole lot. It's not a deal breaker to me anyhow. I actually liked the first live action version. I'll see this one, I hope it's at least as good.

I like MCD as Balrog, although i'd like to see an actual boxer do it

like Shannon Briggs or Hasim Rahman

Duncan could pull off Sagat, but they'll probably try to pull Bob Sapp for that one

any ideas who's gonna play Ed Honda this time?

close, but they'd have to have Jay as Dahlsim i think, what w/ the way his chin seems to extend every other episode.

but, seriously

any ideas on teh big man, i got some ideas, but i doubt they'll happen

Rikishi the pro-wrestler
Akebono the sumo
Haloti Ngata DT for the ravens
but, they'll porbably get some fat dude who no-one knows.
or Bizzare from d-12
