suggestions for Nintendo

Ok, not that anyone from Nintendo actually comes here (or maybe they do...who knows), but what are some things you would suggest that would give the Revolution a chance to do better than the Gamecube is doing?

My main suggestion:

Demos!!

They need to have more demos for games, and not just in the kiosks at Wal-Mart and Best Buy and GameStop, etc.. Nintendo Power should have demos!! Nintendo should give out demos at GameStop for pre-orders. Demos that we can actually give to the customers.

We get demos all the time but 98% of the time they're only for PS2. The other 2% is XBOX demos. Gamecube only customers are pretty much screwed over for freebies with pre-orders. The only thing Nintendo has done recently that was pretty cool was the pre-order bonus for Pokemon XD (if you pre-ordered, you got a special XD themed skin for the Gamecube). Even just more stuff like that would be cool. I mean, look at how well Wind Waker did in pre-orders because of the Master Quest bonus.
 
Demos rock. I'm an OXM subscriber so I get all the Xbox demos anyways, but why wouldn't you let developers make demos for your system?
 
Demos are cool, and I would have liked to seen more for the GC (I even paid $15 for one that had SC2 and VJ on it) but I really don't think they'd boost sales very much.

Although Wind Waker had a ton more pre-orders than it would have had if it did not offer the free OOT/Master Quest game, I don't think it really affected sales that much. I know I always planned on buying the game, and when the pre-order offer came out I just decided I may as well get some free stuff with my purchase. Nintendo still only sold one copy of WW, but they had to lose a bit on offering something for free.

I think Nintendo needs to appeal more to the North American market to have the revolution be more successful than the GC. To me it seems like they're too focused on pleasing the Japanese audience more than the N.A. one, and in doing so they're missing out on some huge opportunities. Its not enough to have a quality product for sale, it has to be cool too.
 
I like demos also. I remember when I send in my registration card they would send me demos. I even remember when I had Nintendo Power and they would send me VHS tapes of upcoming N64 games. They should start doing that again (not the VHS tapes.)

As silly as it sounds, I orrdered Nintendo Power, even though I didn't have an N64, so I was kind of keeping up with the N64 at the same time. I still have my old VHS tape that had Jet Force Gemini and DK 64 on it :lol

I have the Starfox 64 vid and the DK 64 vid.
 
My suggestion for Nintendo is to stop whoring franchises! Or maybe, just maybe, create some new franchises and take some risks once in a while!
 
Soon, they will be scraping the bottom of the barrel. There will be games along the lines of "The Legend of Zelda: The Lampshade of No Real Signifigance."

No. Risks are what have hurt Nintendo. They keep trying to be too innovative and different whilst ignoring what used to make them so good. In a way I can't blame them, seeing as how so many people complained about having to see another Mario, Zelda or Donkey Kong, but as a Nintendo fan I think they should stick to what they know, and what they do best.

I'm talking game development risks, not stupid periphial risks. I do not want to see them make a TV remote replace the controller. I want to see something unique that they don't suck dry.
 
I agree 100%. Instead of making Donkey Kong a bongo player why not create a new character that's suited for bongo playing, and deliver a true to the franchise sequel of Donkey Kong in an entirely separate game? Fans of the series are happy. People looking for new types of games are happy. Everyone's happy. Now apply this logic to the passed 20 Nintendo titles and I think you'll like the results.

I think you look at it to one-sidedly. True, if someone cam to me tommorrow and said I am now majority stockholder of Nintendo, I wouldn't know what to do. But, we are gamers, and WE know what WE want. Considering that Nintendo makes products directed towrads US, their number one goal should be satisfying the customers (US!).

I agree that as consumers we should be able to suggest to companies. The problem is that everybody is different, what you might like might not be what I like and vice-versa. Thats where the problems lies. So I really dont see anything bad about suggestions. I think both sides need to realize that everybody has different opinions.
