Suicide rate for Foxconn (China based factory that made your PS3, Wii, and 360)

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
Foxconn is the largest electronics manufacturer in the world. Its China-based plants churn out iPods, iPads, iPhones, Kindles, PS2s, PS3s, Wiis and Xbox 360s. And today, another one of its factory workers apparently committed suicide.

Or the 21-year-old fell from his window from Foxconn's many worker dormitories in Shenzhen, located in Guangdong province in southern China. (The company is headquartered in Taiwan.)

There have been eight deaths like this during 2010. And days ago, another worker reportedly fell from a seventh-story Foxconn dormitory window. In the past several weeks, 30 individuals have attempted committing suicide at the Shenzhen plant. (It's important to note that this is lower than the national average.)

Gloomy atmosphere, long lines and people fighting, These photos provide a peak into life inside Foxconn's Shenzhen factory. Foxconn guards were captured on tape apparently beating up factory workers.

Earlier this spring, another China-based manufacturer, KYE Systems Corp, came under fire for treating its workers like "prisoners". The company makes, among other things, the control pads for the Xbox 360.

So the next time you complain about your favorite system not working right, just remember that someone probably committed SUICIDE while making it. O.O
