Team Fortress 2 General Discussion Update: 12/17/10 20 new hats!

Re: Team Fortress 2 General Discussion Update: 7/8/10 ENGINEER Strikes Back!

Here's my two cents on the Engineer update (I have all the new weapons):

Frontier Justice - Absolutely amazing gun, the revenge crits are incredibly useful and even carry over death! The half-magazine size balances this out so you won't be able to kill everything even with more than 3 revenge crits.

The Wrangler - Easily the best weapon of the update. It is very accurate, and the shield absorbs a lot! You can even right-click with a level 3 sentry and fire the rockets. Using this also makes the mini-sentries a little more useful. I was glad to see that during that three second cooldown that it still has the bubble shield.

The Gunslinger - I'm glad to see different buildings. The only problem with this is I think the mini-sentries need to be buffed to 75% damage instead of 50%. They don't seem to do enough and often never kill anything when placed how they should be. They're supposed to be an offensive weapon and you should be able to put them down, and run. Using these with the Wrangler is very nice though.

Ability to move buildings - Best part of the update right here folks. This absolutely changes the game, and in a good way. No more will the Engies be standing in one spot singing "Rawk a bye sentreh!" You can pick up your buildings and move them, which comes in handy quite often. It also makes setup maps less stressful, as you can build up your sentry in front of the spawn then carry it to where you want to put it.

The new maps - These are some of the best maps in the whole game already! Upward and Hightower are the real stars of the show. Just looking over the edge on Upward is amazing. The track on that map is very long, making for some very fun matches. Hightower is another PLR map, something I really wanted more of since Pipeline was released. I'm glad to see it, and it definitely goes among my favorite maps in the game. The idea of bringing the carts to an elevator to have them blow up the satellite is awesome!

Valve celebrates Australian Christmas the way our antipodean friends have done for hundreds of years—by releasing a new Team Fortress 2 update. This one's stuffed with 20 hats, new store items and the olde weapons-only "Medieval Mode."

To play Medieval Mode, a mostly melee affair, you'll probably want to head to DeGroot Keep, a capture point map where TF2 players are currently hacking each other to bits with knives, swords, axes and bonesaws. The medieval themed update also includes new weapons, like... *deep breath* The Claidheamohmor, The Back Scratcher, The Boston Basher, The Fists of Steel, The Amputator, The Crusaders Crossbow, The Ullapool Caber, The Loch-n-Load, The Buffalo Steak Sandvich, The Brass Beast, The Warriors Spirit, The Candy Cane, and The Jag.

Those new, stylized weapons for a handful of classes are purchasable at the Mann Co. Store if you don't feel like waiting for them to drop. For the full list of changes, additions and patch notes, fire up Steam and start playing.

sweeet ;D
