Team Fortress 2 nights - who is interested?

We've been having quite a few Left 4 Dead nights.

I say it's time for a few Team Fortress 2 Nights.

Who's in? Post it up?

I have seriously thought about getting us a server and hosting, but I cannot afford that right now unless I can get others to donate for the cause.

Then we could do what we want with no restrictions.

Only us 3 are interested so far?

How much would it cost? I would help support one, but it would have to be 18-24 players. Like, I used to run a CS server and its a serious pain but if someone else runs it I'd gladly donate.

I might be up for some Team Fortress 2. I also have Team Fortress Classic, Team Fortress Forever, Quake III Team Fortress, and the original Quake Team Fortress (including both MegaTF and Custom TF).

It's been a while since I've played it, but yeah, I'm down.

That would be pretty good, but unless we have our own server (or just jumped on an empty one) it might be kinda hard to organize.
It shouldn't be too hard... but it can be a task to find a good one for us all.

It really depends on the specs. I would say $800-1000 for a decent server to have enough power behind it to host many users.

But... keep in mind, it may be more. That would be a smaller server.

From what I understand, it needs to have network bandwidth and a little better processor... but it doesn't ping that much ram or other system resources. The hosting portion is mostly command line.

Wouldn't it be a LOT cheaper to rent a server, I used to have a CS Source one from evolans.com and it was <$100 a month
Technically, not in the long run.

Plus you do not have as much control. Really... you should be able to get 3 years out of a server.

I have at least one good non-forum friend who would love to play with us.
Spartan... get them to join the forums as well!

Aight... so that is 4-5 now.

You know... if I can get a few decent donations... I might spring for a server and just pay the rest. We'll have to see... I would definitely need some help though.

You could always rent a server. It's much cheaper, and you can brand it to your liking.

And yeah, I'm down with some TF2 nights. I have some knowledge on server setup (very little, actually -- but I've set up private servers for messing around with some friends before... I know how it works)... let me know if you need help.

Yeah, you should really do a price comparison. If we were planning on having this server for along time buying one would be a good idea... get some prices Dave!
