The big news of the day: Osama Bin Laden is dead

Nova

Boom-shacka-lacka
Or at least, that's what every news site on the planet is talking about right now. More as this develops.

Pakistani leaders are pleased with the results, so we don't have to worry about them. I don't care what anyone says, but I'm..

Can I say that I am proud to be an American even though I won't be a citizen until September???

I rounded up a bunch of people in my neighborhood and had a late night BBQ in my backyard with fireworks, booze, and good ol' American cheeseburgers and hot dogs.

Well I just have a question going on in my head after all this has been said and done (and celebrated with a good burger).... what now? what may or may not happen now that this man is dead?

Best case scenario, we start looking at how and when we can scale back the troops and focus on issues on our own soil. Worst case scenario, nothing.

Bin Laden isn't dead. They supposedly dumped his body in the ocean instead of taking it in for evidence. DNA results don't mean anything less there is body to show.

MASSIVE LANGUAGE WARNING!!!

Sharing this statement via the band Darkest Hour:

Lets all remember celebrating death is always a slippery slope. Our true celebration should always be to that of the human spirit. All people, all cultures, and all religions (even those who celebrate no religion) - the diversity of this planet is its purest treasure.

Several of my anthropology cohorts have already mentioned similar tidbits.

Ah man. Are we already starting the conspiracy theories? :lol

They dumped his body according to Muslim custom.

While I do agree celebrating the death of someone is an odd thing, this is a man who has shown complete and utter disregard for human life, regardless of their beliefs. He was an utter monster. Remember, he was disowned by his family and country for his actions in what, the early 90's? Way before he did some of his more heinous crimes (such as 9/11, the Luxor massacre in Egypt, several embassy bombings, etc).

While I agree everyone has their own side of the story to tell, this man only has a story of hatred and murder. Celebrate away if you must, but do not feel any remorse for this man.

He wasn't really a major player anymore, so I don't think much will change.
