The DSi will launch April 4th in North America....the price? ehhh not so hot.

$179.99 for a DS that can't play GBA games anymore? FANTASTIC! Yet it can play Virtual Console games...which is a nice advantage! Plus, features larger display screens, dual 0.3 megapixel digital cameras, SD card support and internal storage.

it's only 50 bucks more than the DS lite and since my old school DS is in the point of saying goodbye to the world (it still works but is a pain in the butt to use while i am traveling in the car) i will be getting this if possible

So... they don't see it as a replacement of the DS lite, I seem to remember them saying the same thing concerning the GBSP. No GBA support and incompatible with some DS games, It will be interesting to see how gamers respond. Will it be another GB Micro? I really don't think so, it all depends on whether the average gamer deems if the GBA support is that important. For me, the GBA support is important, but then again I have my GBSP. ;)

same deal, to be completely honest i don't play SP that much in my DS anyway because i feel more comfortable playing my GBA games in my SP for some reason (except for fire emblem that one i play in the DS just fine)

Seems like gamers are split 50/50 on the DSi. I've seen just as many saying they will buy it as those saying they will not. I personally will not since I just bought a DSL, but if something happened to it I might go the DSi route.

hm... I don't remember reading this... if you purchased Virtual Console games on your Wii... can you auto download them to your DSi? What about some WiiWare? I take it there will be limitations of which Virtual Console game you could download to the DSi, correct?

Just an Edit to what I wrote before... I think $179 is asking too much. They should have done what they could to keep it at $150. The original DS was $200, correct? or was it $150? I forget now.

Whoa you can play Wii virtual console games on the dsi? That would be so cool. However I seem to have a problem with buying them on the wiu. I doubt I would even buy those dsi ware games.

That's just way too much. I think it is incredibly crazy for those with ds already to even consider getting it. The camera is horribly low quality and cheap. The dsi ware seems like a way to only generate profits fast and maybe for them to test some presumptive studies on what gamers are willing to play sortof like test material and the consumers are their test subjects.

To forgo the gba slot is weird but I guess those coming of age and to nintendo or even people who are adults have no need for if though

Agreed on all accounts! Most people already have cameras on their phones anyways.

I have a feeling that's not how Nintendo is intending it to be used. It would probably be primarily for some new type of gameplay feature. Possibly take pics and place them as textures in games.

i was thinking the same thing :lol

Pass. The music playing part was appealing at first until I learned it was only AAC or something. If it could do mp3s or wmas then we might be talking.

Yeah the acc part really only makes it benefitial for those who have imported their music collection into itunes. I would love to be able to try the dsi music player thingy if it supported my other media formats.
