For those of you who dont know, the PS1 started out as a Add-on for the SNES. But plans fell through. So Sony went on and started the sony PS1 without Nintendo's help. There were actually some PS1's that could actually play SNES cartridges. Here is a link with some of the history of the PS1.

Nice topic that you've started here. I never knew that PS1 started out as a add-on for SNES and didn't know that some of them actually could play some SNES games, that's pretty impressive! Wish there were some screens of it in action though. :-\

Nice job Creep! *gives him a slice of his 3yr old birthday cake* :lol

Gee thanks royce. But I guess it's the thought that counts. anyways, I figured there are people on this board that didnt know that, so I thought I'd post up.

Here is the link that shows how many units of the playstation were made that played SNES games. It was about 200 of them.

Great article!

It's pretty lame what Nintendo did to Sony though. Sounds like rather unethical decisions on their part. I always did like the SNES, but interest in Nintendo dropped after that. I never had an interest in the N64, though I occasionally played Mario Kart with friends. The same holds for the GameCube too, actually.
