The number 1 best selling game of December 2008 was....

*drum roll*

Hint: It wasn't Wii Fit and it wasn't Call of Duty: World at War

Way to go idiot consumers. Keep on encouraging Nintendo to make crappy minigames bundled with even more peripherals. ::)

Exactly why it was well played by Nintendo, though. They're true geniuses.

Exactly...it wouldn't be so bad if they put something else worth $40 in there, instead of the game...like say, 4000 Wii Points?

well let's all ignore wii play and let's say CoD WaW is the best selling game of 08 :lol (honestly if wii fit had won that one would have been at least ok...)

From a financial perspective, most definitely. The Wii is a huge cash cow. From my view, as a gamer though, it's a bad thing, as Nintendo is now focusing on what the next gimmicky peripheral is going to be, rather than making great games that use the full potential of the peripherals, or just making great games period.

Good point, Cherry. This reminds me of a header I saw in either a mag or online, but it said in relation to the Wii, "Is Nintendo forgetting about hardcore gamers?". I think that maybe Nintendo realizes that hardcore gamers are simply not buying the Wii, so maybe they feel like it's more productive to put most of their focus on the "casual" gamer as they've been doing. I am at least glad that the DS has plenty of offerings for the hardcore gamer, but it is disappointing they are ignoring us on the console end, as the Wii has a lot of potential.

indeed.... agree with every last word in there. (specially because DS owners will soon get fire emblem shin ankonku ryu to hikari no ken XD so the DS still has some flames)

More like it's the best selling controller of December 2008.

If Microsoft bundled a controller with Gears of War 2 it probably would have sold more too. Of course, Gears of War 2 doesn't need to have extras accommodating it to warrant its $60 price tag, and to that end Microsoft doesn't split their controllers in twain with the purpose of packaging each part with a demo disc and selling them for $60.

Good job Nintendo, you found another way to take advantage of your customers. :lol
