The Offical E3 2008 Thread (July 14th to July 16th)

E3 is just the biggest conference in NA. E3 doesn't matter to anyone else around the world but NA.
Exactly. They're addressing the casuals in NA with this. And at the biggest one in Japan, they'll address the casuals in Japan.

That's nice and all, but there should be a balance. If you're only showing off and catering to casuals then you're going to push the hardcore crowd away. Especially when MS and Sony had great games to show. All I heard from that keynote was, "Look how much money we've made. Oh and here are some games, I guess." Although, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and they probably didn't expect MS and Sony to come out so strong. Especially at E3, where a lot of people thought was dead. I also have a problem with so many peripherals coming out. The Wii Remote was supposed to simplify and, in essence, make games better by itself. Yet they still keep adding on and adding on. Do they not have faith in the Wii Remote?

Either way, their keynote really showed nothing, even if it was for casual gamers. That's how I feel about it.

I covered that point.
All the hardcore titles they had...well, we know they exist and we'll buy them...As for the hardcore games, they can release information at a later event or just when they feel like it.

Not really. I was talking about having a balance at this E3. Spreading it out over time doesn't help them any with the way MS and Sony came through. I can guarantee you that they lost a few sales for those "hardcore" games because of the lackluster showing they had. Which is why they should have a balance every time they have a keynote regardless.

Read what Miyamoto says.
the way we handle our announcement is we work on product and once the product is at a state where we feel it's ready to show to people, then that's when we're willing to talk about it.
They have stuff coming, it just wouldn't have been any good to show.

Alright then. But like I said before, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. But that's a statement that I'm not willing to believe and feels like a cop out. But whatever, time will tell, especially since a lot of casual gamers don't really follow things like E3.

You...don't believe Miyamoto when he says games need more time before they're shown? He made HAL redo Kirby entirely...after it was finished. He repeatedly forced OoT back to the shop. He wants games to be good when people experience them.

From the sounds of it, Nintendo is only just beginning to brainstorm the game for Mario and Zelda.

I doubt Miyamoto really has any game that is actually what the actual gamers who were the ones to camp out for Wii's on release date of the Wii actually want. Unless of course you camped out to own a Wii for Wii Sports Resort.

Nope. It may or may not be true, but in this case I don't believe him. I commend him for making sure games are good and ready to release to the public for sale, but when it comes to a keynote, they should have at least shown what they have now, or mention a little more. Especially if it's anything about new franchises, since we already know that Mario and Zelda will be on the Wii again.

Actually, there's supposedly a WarioLand demo at E3. If that helps.

while i was dissapointed at the fact that they didn't show games on the conference (to the point of depression) i saw some lists of games the wii has for the future and it does seem like nintendo pushed aside the hardcore games that they are developing.... like fatal frame (nintendo is helping developing that one)

EW that list of games for the Wii is disapponting and embarassing. There were no games that had "Mario" or "Golf" in the title on the same line, Im greatly disappointed with Nintendo.

On the lists of upcoming Wii games till around 2009, there is nothing interesting (Spare my Tales of S).

Mario Golf wasnt at the conference and I totally wanted that!

So not having one game makes a whole list a disappointment?
