The Official E3 2010 Thread!

Good it worked for you..at the E3 demonstration, all I could think of was how much work needed to go into the sword play. When they showed it off at the conference, the sword was not matching the angle Shigeru was slashing at all.

apparently there was some wireless interference or some crap like that

Yeah, I just saw that. I'm watching the conference for the first time now. I only saw the liveblog before. I posted during the demonstration.

Now I don't really know what you have against sequels but I am pretty sure some sequels do not = remake/port with better graphics, there is always something new and unique in certain sequels that cannot be found on new IPs

Sequels are fine but the ones that were shown off this year were expected and really didn't seem to do anything substantially new or interesting. Second verse, same as the first. That's ok, if you liked the first verse, but considerably less appealing if that's all you get.

I do expect E3 to pack a few surprises that really get my attention. Twisted Metal was a pleasant surprise, and while that is a sequel it's one that has been a long time coming, perhaps because they waited until they had something unique to add into the game instead of simply releasing the same thing people have played before.

Kid Icarus looks good, especially considering the last one I played and the last one that came out was the one for Gameboy
Also I can only imagine F-Zero on the 3DS, and how can any game have slightly worst graphics than something that came out 10-15 years ago? Gamecube did come out like 9 years ago and the graphics look alot better than the N64 :P

I was talking about the OOT and Starfox remakes on the 3DS, which look worse than when they originally came out on the 64, 13 years ago. If there are other ones being remade that look better: 1) I'll believe it when I see it, and 2) I still wouldn't really care, because I played those games when they came out, 10-15 years ago (like in the case of Goldeneye).

I guess I expect more than nostalgia from E3, I like to get a glimpse of where things are headed and what will be the exciting release 2 or 3 years down the road. All I really saw was old games remade, new hardware that won't improve how I want to play videogames, and more ways to spend money on things that used to be included with the purchase of the hardware/software.

Woo.

Ah Stealth...I'll say it again...

I don't know what else to tell you my good brethren, we are all but lost sheep in this world blinded by all the pretty lights and signs that drive us away from what really matters the most in this industry. Originality.

It's sad that you mention this, but you hit it on the nail. Sure you have an angry mob before you, but who cares? Games are just recycled to death and how many more retro compilations do we need?

I find myself even drawn towards new games that I missed out on. I know this is a sequel so sue me, God of War Chains of Olympus was a bit different in storyline on PSP and quite refreshing I will add. Twisted Metal I'm excited about, but the overkill on Sweet Tooth clowns in one game has a haunting sense of Twisted Metal 4 all over again. I hope to God it doesn't spiral into that jumble of 989 Studios bullcrap.

I have been noticing you have been playing Red Dead Redemption and for that I humbly salute you for staying on the path my righteous brother. May I recommend No More Heroes when it arrives on PS3 sir? :)

As for me, "ALAN WAKE" on Xbox 360 really was a fresh breath of air compared to the many things I've played. Which I'm always going for the releases, remakes, retro compilations, and sequels. I just can't break away from this cliche'. My own brother chews me out when he sees me playing Namco Museum at times and he'd rather have Call of Duty. He's 36 btw just in case you're wondering ^_^

How do you recommend we break away from this Stealth since you are so easily to throw aside a sequel or remake?

One final thing. What is your thoughts on Kirby's Epic Yarn? Just curious.

I have seen more on the 3DS and, as Creepin said, I'll have to play it before I "get" it, so perhaps I shouldn't be so pessimistic about some of Nintendo's conference.

Kirby's epic yarn does look great. I am a sucker for new takes on sidescrollers, and Kirby looks like it will deliver that. Of the 5 games I bought for DS, a Kirby game was among them, so I must admit this particular sequel has me intrigued.

I think sequels can deliver on originality, but for some reason nearly everything highlighted at this year's E3 (that wasn't motion-controlled) was just more of the same.

You know Stealth, I agree with you strongly. It saddens me, but I feel like we're screwed at the same time. Now we can't buy a game unless it's a sequel or a remake. I look at my collection and see the same amount of sequels sadly. Is it product comfort that is ceasing my taste in games or am I secretly craving originality now?
