The PS3 box is freakin huge.

MegaDrive20XX

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
It's the size of a suitcase for godsakes. My co-worker brought his in, only to later sell it on Ebay for $3600... ::)

From what I can tell, more people are buying it to sell on eBay than to keep it. Most of the customers I had today just bought the system...no games, no warranty, no extra controllers...that's usually a sure sign that they aren't keeping it.

Correct again Mai, even my boss and a co-worker of mine are gonna sell theirs. Remind me to stab them later for such greed. THE SINNERS WILL REPENT!!

at my college there are signs all over the place in the tunnel with people selling ps3 for 2-3 grand

I know this isn't exactly the point of this thread, but perhaps I can step aside for a moment, step up on the soap box, and share my opinion on this issue. I have been playing video games since the Nintendo Entertainment System first came out. So, a very long time. Personally, I don't like the way video games have progressed, and I think this PS3 phenomena is an excellent example. The systems they have out today really are not video game systems anymore. They are media stations. They are a keyboard, monitor, and mouse away from being your own personal computer.

When I was growing up, there was computer gamers and console gamers. The lines were not blurred. They were very distinguished. You could be both, or one or the other, but the two genres offered different media. Now, you mine as well own a computer. I mean, why not? Your paying 599 for a console.

Then on top of that, what frustrates me about Sony, is if you look at the amount of games Japan gets that we will never see, and the amount of crap that we get in the US as almost "leftovers", it is extremely sad.

Compare Xbox 360 in Japan to Sony Japan then compare Xbox 360 American to Sony America and you will see my point.

I can't understand why anybody would need the system that bad....to pay sooo much for it. I mean, it was not cheap to begin with....are they really gonna get thousands of dollars of fun out of it.......although I think I might have gottenthousands of dollars of fun from my cube.....

One of the guys at work sold his for 4K. I personally would not buy one, and definitely not for 4k. But hey, if they can make a profit on it... Cool! ;-)

They say the box and everything weighs friggin 17 lbs.

Crazy stuff... That is huge. I don't think I have had a console over 9.2 Lbs...

Bv :hat

They opened one up on AOTS. It looked pretty sweet.

So whats the deal though. It doesnt come with cables to hook up to the tv?

Hm, I don't think it's that heavy. I'm pretty sure the 360 is heavier.

Unless the 60 gig PS3 weighs more than the 20 gig, since the 20 gig was the only one I handled at work (we are already out of the 60 gigs).

one of my local rock radio stations got a ps3 and video taped them throwing it over niagara falls.... it was on the news.... lol

It's kind of odd though to think that they went from the super small and sleek slim PS2 up to this big, George Foreman grill looking PS3. I guess it must be the technological bits. Maybe they'll make a slim PS3 sometime in the future. I might wait for that, as it will probably look better, and be cheaper by then as well. ;)
