They're Not Sharing Awesome Hand-Held Games With The Regular Consoles?

Hello Members!

Why are they making some of the best(I guess ultimately it's a preference thing)games for the hand-helds,such as "Final Fantasy" titles,"Dragon Warrior" titles, and not for the normal systems? Are they doing it this way to profit even more through increased sales of hand-helds by making these juicy titles exclusive to hand-helds?It seems as though I'm misinformed,or perhaps cynical?

God Bless,

I feel your pain. When Dragon Quest IV was denied a re-release on American PS1, I was pretty bummed out back in the day. Yet DS gets the rights? Sadness.

I hate the fact that all these major companies depend on portables to do the dirty work on "retro" remakes of amazing games.

I thought PS1 got a lot of remakes, though, at least from Square? I know it had quite a few FF remakes and Chrono Trigger. I can't speak for the PSP, but I think DS is getting so many awesome RPG's because the demand is there, and I believe sales have been quite good for the games. I am going out on a limb here, but I think on the console side there is much less a demand for good old JRPG's than there used to be.

@X2, those remakes from PS1 took a good while for them to get over here, the fans demanded it when we finally had a good idea of what the Japanese was receiving at the time.

Like I said in other threads, if you release a game on a handheld and then release it on a console, it defeats the purpose of manufacturing handhelds in the first place. Why should consoles get all the best games? Granted it's more convenient, but you did spend all that money on a handheld, you might as well get exclusives.

Well said, Creepin.

indeed.

also they do make a lot more money when they make the game for the DS because in Japan everyone has a DS apparently, it's very easy to develop games for handheld consoles as well and the overall product can still be better or unique than other console products (there is no way TWEWY can be done in any other console)
