God bless,

I consider myself a devout hard headed Christian and I would say no. I do not believe it to be authentic.

I do not know why it would make a difference if it was the real thing or not...but I do not think it was from Jesus...cuz people are always getting excited over things and thinking they are something special, but on the other hand...I could always be wrong, and it certainly wouldn't hurt anything to believe that. :)

Good Evening everyone(or morning),

If you look at the shroud you'll notice the man's(Jesus' I Believe)thumbs are pointing inward down, that is consistent with someone driving something such as a spike or someother type object available at the time through the wrists.Studies have shown that a human body with something through the hands such as a spike could not support the weight of a human body in the position it was placed.

If this is a hoax, then whoever made this is quite a brilliant person to have thought about how the thumbs would react like this with an object placed through the wrist.Too many people take the Bible's words too literally.Things like this than occur in life,or the like Noah's Ark,or other religious objects of this truly rare nature do make a difference,Maybe I'm biased, but I will believe in God as long as I draw breath,so things of this nature only serve to simply strengthen my faith.

The difference is the fact that the power these blessed things have is the effect they have on the "Non-Beleiver" or some poor soul whose faith is fragile.Faith means nothing without action.I know it doesn't always make sense guys, but is it really that difficult to believe in something without proof?,but take it for what it's worth, who am I but a simple believer who stays up too late playing Mario Tennis with a bag of Doritos at my side.

God bless.

I think it falls into an odd category where those who already believe don't care about it because they're not looking for proof, and those who don't believe find it far too inconsequential (to steal HC's word) to make them believe.

Personally I don't think either proof of Jesus or faith in him is necessary to believe in his message. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Seems like a good motto to live by, whether or not Jesus ever actually existed at all.

I can agree to that. The fact that I don't believe in Jesus doesn't mean I haven't found bits of wisdom in the Bible. I've found wisdom in almost all religions actually. I just don't choose to believe in them.

:lol

If you haven't read, here are some excerpts from Stephen Colbert's book I AM AMERICA (AND SO CAN YOU) from his chapter on religion that may pertain to you.

Atheists.

"Atheists blindly follow whatever their scientists tell them to, no matter how unbelievably fantastical it sounds to rational ears."

"Atheists enrage me precisely because they impute everything that happens to the semi-random workings of the natural world. They refuse to take responsibility for their actions! If their dog dies, it's because the decay of its cells caused by the aging process was "meant to be.""

Agnostics

"Atheists without balls."

He also talks about Atheists and "the Big Secular Agenda." He refers to Big Secularism as "BS" throughout a section. He rags on every religion though, the entire chapter is absolutely hilarious.
