Twisted Metal: Head-On: EXTRA Twisted Edition (Review)

MegaDrive20XX

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
I will give this game a 8/10. The price is right at $20.This PSP port also brings some bonus goodies with it. It's short and sweet, but man Head-On is pretty hard. So Start your engines, reload your machine guns, and find some homing missles. It's time to hit the ROAD!

Gameplay: 9/10 Same ol' traditional Twisted Metal we have all known and heard of. Still fun as ever I would have to say. This PS2 port did a solid job of keeping everything from

Controls: 7/10. I like how it gives you variety on how to steer your car, Analog, Digital, or Square to accelrate while using D-pad to steer.

Graphics: 5/10 TM Head-On and 9/10 on TM Lost. Two for 1 deal on this. TM Head-On uses the PSP graphics style, while the bonus game "TM LOST" uses TM Black's graphics. The PSP graphics are kind of outdated by now, since PSP has done alot much more since it's launch. Sadly this game takes a nose dive, some of the cutscenes are badly done and choppy. Like someone rushed this port and didn't fix the video quality. Yet the main game is perfectly fine if you don't care about CG Videos and such.

Sound: 10/10. Twisted Metal always strives on DARK and Metal like music. So It's always a sure fire winner. The cool part is the game comes with a code you enter online and you can download a special TM Bonus Soundtrack! Includes tracks from TM1,2, TM Head-On, and TM Black in MP3 form! How nice is that for the fans?

Bonus features & Extras: 10/10. Having 4 Bonus levels from the never-before-released TM Black 2 rocks. An interview with the creators of Twisted Metal, as well as the history. A free downloadable soundtrack via online. Plus the mini-game "SWEET TOUR" with your host SWEET TOOTH himself, as he tries to escape an insane aslyum. He picks up artifacts that each have pieces of Twisted Metal history on each one. (e.g. Character Development, Origins, People in the business, and Artwork). Also included is the NEVER before seen...REAL Endings to Twisted Metal 1. Warning! They are EXTREMELY CHEESY and live actors who cannot act in a TV Sitcom for godsakes...some of them are downright hiliarious. You'll find out why when you watch the interview with David Jaffe (the creator) Not bad for $20

Overall: This game was really meant for the fans and has a sad story behind "Twisted Metal: Lost". Which are 4 levels only, so no storyline for this part of the game. It tells the story of how 6 game testers died in a plane wreck back in 2005 while working on "Twisted Metal Black 2: Harbor City". The project was canned up until 2007. When a letter arrived to Sony's office, demanding that the world should see the lost levels that didn't make it. This letter was signed by all 6 members who died in that plane wreck. 2 weeks later, it is found out that this was nothing more than a SICK Joke by some employees. The CEO of Sony wasn't too pleased when he found out. Yet regardless of their sick prank. The levels were FINALLY released via this PS2 port.

P.S. Beat TM Lost on HARD mode and you get to READ the actual letter that showed up at Sony's office...it was quite disturbing....and downright "TWISTED" to put it bluntly... ::D

So do yourself a favor, if you haven't played a Twisted Metal game since 1-4 or TM Black...pick this up or rent it. It's not too bad and has alot of nostalgia :)
