Tyrant GameStop takes over New Zealand

Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
Geekpulp reports that New Zealand's largest "100% KIWI owned and managed" gaming store has accepted the warm embrace of the GameStop overlords. The site reports it has been "unofficially" told that the eight Gamesman locations will be converted into EB Games (GameStop) stores by late July.

The site goes on to say that the eight Gamesman locations already have EB Games stores in the area, though the staff have been told that there won't be any job losses. Resistance is futile dear Kiwis, just accept GameStop as the rest of the world has. Now, to enjoy some soylent green for lunch, generously donated by GameStop.

I just wanted to say that ever since I was abducted by aliens, I've been waiting for a little payback. :D
 
i really give the iron fist to people like this, i buy at gamestop all the time (is the only thing here other than wal-mart, though i sometimes buy in walmart as well ) and when the ask me for pre-orders i just say "no i don't want to pre-order anything" and they leave me alone..... seriously is that so hard to do????
 
*nods* And when I DO want to pre-order, I don't do it for them, I do it because I like paying for things little by little, then it's like a reward for being good with my money. ^_^ Although they do get their allocation determined by pre-order, so if you think a title is gonna be hard to get hold of, you might wanna pre-order it so you can be sure to get one.
 
Joy has a point, no matter what game it is...GameStop will have it. If its a real obscure title..it will show up there.

Actually I was surprised our buyers picked that one up. They usually don't take chances on games, they like to pick up the "sure bet" titles and Tales is a little obscure.

*looks at dusty spots on my shelf where MGS twin snakes, Tales of the Abyss, Fire Emblem Sacred Stones, Legend of Zelda OOT, and Tales of Symphonia should be*
 
I'm sorry, I just support my local mom and pop shops. I more of a chance of getting better deals at them than Gamestop plus they usually have the games that I need.
 
I wish we had a place like that around here, but me and the clerk at gamestop here are pals. Hes always the one to tell me that they dont have a game in and, bless his heart, he always reccomends another game that I dont want.

well joy it turns out wal-mart is the only place around here that you have a chance to find tales of the abyss or GBA games in their boxes
 
Just because I know everyone at my local Gamestop, I'll always go there. I mean, letting me buy a game new, and letting me return it for full price if I don't like it is awesome...it's like renting a game for free!

Like Mega said, they were bought out, and didn't want to bother changing the store designs and stuff.

I added in the laziness/desire not to spend anymore money since they already got an amazing deal part. :/
