The entire *point* of GOTY editions is to have all the stuff on disc that was previously DLC!

/shakemyhead

Utter fail ND, complete and utter fail.

I don't recall that being the point, but more of a preference from certain consumers. Although, I will agree that it could've been possible with the size of Blu-ray discs. Unless they somehow managed to fill the entire disc with the game itself somehow.

Lol, Lupin's more anti DLC than I am anti Microsoft. :lol

At any rate, I think they have the right idea. Keep people looking forward to something. Good business strategy.

Well, for all intents and purposes, GOTY editions *usually* have the DLC included - as far back as Elder Scrolls III on the original XBox.
That's why I don't buy games that have DLC - I'd prefer to wait for the GOTY editions with the stuff on the disc, but if they're going to start doing this with GOTY versions, I'll just buy the vanilla version used.

With that logic, you'll be paying more than the GOTY edition. With games like Uncharted 2 where it's a huge exclusive title it's kinda hard finding the vanilla under $40.

How do you figure I'd pay more?

They're usually released for the same price as the vanillla release - and sometimes for less, like the Fallout 3 GOTY edition was.

Edit - wait, maybe I got that on sale - I can't honestly remember.

Personally, I'd like to get it while it's hot and still a topic amongst gamers, than wait a year and check it out then. But of course, that's personal preference.

It's enough to make one want to wait and see if they do this for Dragon Age 2 before investing one's money, isn't it? No, of course it isn't, and we'll be kicking ourselves this time next year as well. We're not a very patient group.

That sums it up. I'd rather pay full price while everyone is playing it than to get it after everyone stops. After all, they lower the price when people stop buying.

That's like saying you aren't going to buy a PS3, because you're gonna wait until Sony releases their next system, and drop the price on the PS3.

That analogy makes no sense at all.

basically what he is saying is he wants to play the game as soon as possible and not wait for the next big thing to come out in a year or 2

I don't really care how much the game costs, as long as it's worth however much is asked for. Is Dragon Age origins worth $114? Possibly, but I got the game 66% off, and I'm perfectly fine with paying full price for the DLC and Expansion because they are worth my money.

Is Uncharted 2 worth $50? I would think so, judging by what I've heard and seen.

To each his own, I suppose, though.

Sounds to me like you just want to play new games so you can be part of the crowd.

What does it matter *when* you play a game? Makes no sense at all.

sorry but out of all the people to say that I am not the one that wants to be part of a crowd.

when one is very excited for a game and just wants to play it and experience it as soon as possible that desire makes us want to buy a game day one. IT has nothing to do with who is playing it and how much it costs, if we can buy it we will

Although this is technically true, sometimes playing a game during certain times in your life can have an effect as to how you perceive a game. I've had times where I thought a game sucked but went back to it later and thought it was actually good, and vice-versa. It could be a maturity thing.

Honestly, if someone wants to play a game now, why is that so wrong? Just let them play.
