Video Game Confessions!

It's not a bad addiction to have. I hit 40 playthroughs already. So don't feel too bad about 12. :)

What is the definition of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder? :lol

Seriously though, the only game I've played through more than a handful of times has been Ocarina of Time, and that game is beatable in a weekend, easy. I bet the other games you own all feel like neglected step-children.

:lol I just really love the game. Also, I will constantly try to beat my completion time.

Probably. They are nowhere near as being my favorite child like RE4 is. :D

I don't mind buying used games, but they HAVE to have the original case. If they don't, then I don't buy them. I'll look somewhere else or even pay the extra money to buy it new if the used one is just a disc or has a generic box.

When I first tried the demo for God of War, I dismissed it as a Ninja Gaiden wannabe. But then I played the full game, and I like the GoW series better than Ninja Gaiden.

I own GoW but have yet to even put it in my PS2. I will buy a used game without the case if it's a game that will never have any real value {both money and keepsake wise}. I will probably never buy another modern console {not including handhelds}. Gaming has become too expensive for me.

Totally agree on that. I think I'm going to skip out on the launches of next-gen consoles this go-round. It's hard to have faith in Nintendo's consoles after the Wii, in particular. If I end up getting a system next gen it will probably be Microsoft's.

I've traded over $300 dollars worth of games to GameStop in the last month and a half. It knocked a small chunk out of my game library, too. :P

But it was worth it as I got MvC3, and a 3DS. :D (And my sister got some stuff too)
Only got so much because of GS's wonderful promos they were running at the time.

Only other confession of mine is: I hate Microsoft. ^^

I think the sad thing is that I pretty much hate all the gaming companies as of late. Well, not hate, but they have all been leaving a nasty taste in my mouth for one reason or another. Sony went from having arguably the 2 greatest consoles in gaming history to an overpriced console that I couldn't even name 10 games I'd want for it. Nintendo redeems themselves *only* with their handhelds, which are surprisingly still kicking out great original games. And then you have MS who's 360 has a great selection of games, but it was one of the crappiest built consoles ever. To think it was actually uncommon to find somebody who didn't have at least one console die to the RROD. PC is good, but the security measures they are putting on games has really turned me off. And in general most games these days are horrible. Unoriginal, buggy, recycled crap!

I can't agree with you about only being able to name 10 games for an "overpriced" console. (PS3)

Uncharted, Uncharted 2, inFamous, inFamous 2, God of War III are all exclusives. (And there are more, just can't think of them right now)
Multi-platform PS3 titles…
Split/Second, Blur, Just Cause 2, Call of Duty (4, 5, 6, 7 are all great games), Burnout Paradise, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Marvel vs Capcom 3, and many more if you include PSN games, PSOne Classics, etc.

Now you did say 10 games "you would want" but if there are less than 10 games you want on any console, why should you hate the console and/or company? It's not their fault you don't like their games.
And on top of all that, the PS3 is not overpriced. It (originally) played PS1, PS2, and PS3 games. Played Blu-rays, DVDs, had USB ports for flash drives, SD cards, etc… And $300 is not very overpriced, even if the newer models are missing PS2 and SD card support. If the PS3 is overpriced for everything it does, then the Wii and Xbox are extremely overpriced. (Or were, before the price drops)

Personally, every game I mentioned above (excluding God of War III) I have played and loved, so I'm not unhappy. :D

Not trying to flame you or anything, just debating. ^^

You had to get a specific model of PS3 to get backwards compatibility, though. And that was when the system first came out and was a lot more expensive. If you buy one now it's not backwards compatible and the only way to play PS1 games is by downloading them from the PSN Store, which limits your selection because they haven't made every PS2 or PS1 game available.

I have warmed up to my PS3 and in fact other than my 3DS it is my currently most played system. However, a lot of criticisms that people have towards it are legitimate and I find it irritating when people jump all over anyone who doesn't practically worship the PS3. Not saying that you are doing that, but none of the consoles are perfect.

Really don't wanna get in a debate about this because it's mostly opinion based. I don't buy a console for features or "what it does", that's what I have a PC for. I want a simple console with a great library of games. The 360 achieved this, but unfortunately was poorly made. For a console that launched at $600 I can't even think of 5 good rpg's, compare that to the PS2 which had an amazing selection of rpg's. It has no bearing on me what you or joe blow likes, the PS3 was a major let down for me, and that's all that matters.

Actually, it does still play PS1 discs. Not all of them, but most. For example, the first Tomb Raider for some reason doesn't play well with the PS3. FFVIII has some weird graphic corruption when you enter battles but that's only during the transition and not during the actual battles.

I've been pretty disappointed with this generation of consoles as well. There have been some bright spots, to be sure (playing the Wii for the first time, LANning up some Gears of War, the whole CoD thing, to name a few), but for the most part I'm still waiting for games to be more than updated versions of what came out before.

Games aren't worse than they were before, but there are too many of them that have too much in common for the industry as a whole to seem fresh, exciting, and worth one's close attention. The greatest innovation over the last few years has been trilogies within trilogies (Assassin's Creed) and whole new methods of producing sequels (FF spinoffs, Mario/Zelda/everything Nintendo spinoffs, all the third party titles coming out this year with "3" in them).

It feels like everyone's already kind of waiting for the next gen systems to come out.

I have to say I've been fairly satisfied with this generation, and by this generation I mean the Xbox. I've been really fortunate with my box. I personally have not experienced an RROD. My first box I sold to get some money for the MW2 Special Edition. It has solid games from all of my favorite genres.

PS3 has been a slight disappointment, but then again, I haven't played it enough to say it's a bust. Wii... well, I think you all know how I feel about that.

But I will agree that it's not the same as it has been in the past. I think that's just how it goes anyways. You hear people always say that music back in the old days was way better and that now everything sounds the same. It's hard to innovate when a majority of the "great" ideas have already been used.

Is that just some models of the PS3, though, or all of them? If it's all of them, that's good to know! I still have several PS1 rpgs to play. :lol

All of them. My slim plays them fine with the exceptions I noted above. Not sure if there's a compatibility list out there. Maybe on Wikipedia.

I must say that i have been distracted from gaming to a point this week because i have had a lot of meetings and have been hanging with my friends. i am gonna be gaming for a while this coming week but i am usually sleeping in until 1-230pm cause i go to bed usually around 130/215am.

tonight i haven't been able to sleep and don't see myself sleeping anytime soon. i have been gaming every now and then and will probably continue gaming here and there until i finally fall asleep.

My guilty licensed game pleasure is anything having to do with Bleach.

The three Bleach games on the DS and the Wii Bleach game are among my favorites. And I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Bleach game on the PS3. It's been described as Dynasty Warrior with Bleach characters. But it looks sooooooooo cool. <3
