WiiWare:
Military Madness: Nectaris (1000pts - Hudson) – Hudson's WiiWare revisit to their TG-16 original finally makes it over. Check out our Military Madness: Nectaris review to find out why we think this is a must-have for strategy fans.

Virtual Console:
Zaxxon (800pts Arcade - Sega) – Even when this debuted in the arcades it was overrated, so having to pay 300 points more than Europe probably isn't going help it sell better in North America. Reading our Zaxxon review will probably help make up your mind one way or another.

Ehhh, Zaxxon can be easily found on many Sega collection compilation disc by now :(

However, the TG16 remake of Military Madness maybe a worth a shot.

(Capcom, 500 points) – The Blue Bomber's fourth NES adventure is quite divisive: there are those who think it's the best of the classic offerings and there are those that feel it doesn't quite live up to the lofty heights of its predecessors. * 5 Arcade Gems (Nordcurrent, 1-4 players, 700 Wii Points): Ah, the arcade classics: Pizza Jungle Delivery, RC Buggy Madness, Templar Bashing, Whirling Rangers, and the ever-popular Lumberjack Trials. As you may have guessed, these are actually original games devised by Nordcurrent.
* Brain Drain (Enjoy Gaming Ltd., 1 player, 500 Wii Points): Spin icons around to make the playfield match up with an example image. It's like Bejeweled as a jigsaw puzzle.

Virtual Console....introducing one of my favorites, which I hope is yours too from the Neo Geo...

(Neo Geo, 1-2 players, 900 Wii Points): This entry in the SNK fighting series introduces Iori Yagami, the oddly stylish fighter who, in King of Fighters XII, finally stopped tethering his legs together at the knee. This is why you were losing matches!
 
May 3rd. No Virtual Console this week :(

Zombie Panic in Wonderland (Akaoni Studio, 1,000 points) – Too amorous for Europe alone to contain, these fairytale zombie fighters have finally blasted their way over to North America. We thought this one turned out to be quite fun in an irreverent, over-the-top kind of way in our Zombie Panic in Wonderland review, so feel safe in grabbing this one if you're looking for some arcade fun. Those zombies won't shoot themselves, you know.

Kung Fu Funk: Everybody is Kung Fu Fighting! (Stickmen Studios, 500 points) – Challenge your friends to see who really wears the 'fro in this 1970's-themed party game that handily reminds you that everyone is fighting, as opposed to kung fu knitting or napping. Oh, and there are singing yaks too. Somehow.
 
I can't understand the logic behind releasing KOF 95 right now, when the KOF Anthology is available on Wii with KOF 94-98? It just seems like they would go with something that hasn't been ported to the Wii yet, like World Heroes 2/Jet/Perfect, or Art Of Fighting 3. :'(

In the very least, if they have to port the KOF titles to the VC as well, then they should port the Neo-Geo CD versions with the arranged soundtrack. This would at least give people who already own the collections an incentive to purchase the VC versions. ::D

* Chess Challenge! (Digital Leisure, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points): It's chess! With online play, leaderboards, and Mii support! And an exclamation point!

Bit.Trip RUNNER (800pts - Aksys Games) – Europe received this latest entry in the Bit.Trip series last week, but it's not been too long a wait for North American residents to get their hands on what might be its best entry yet. The review is imminent, but before you run off, you'll want to check out our Bit.Trip RUNNER preview.

Blood Beach (1000pts - Coresoft, Inc.) – Another port of an iPhone game for WiiWare. Hopefully this game, in which players are placed at the controls of a flak gun or machine gun nest on islands in the Pacific during World War II, will turn out to have had a better WiiWare conversion than others. One of our reviewers will find out soon enough!

(800pts SNES - Nintendo) – One of the more popular games in the series, we're sure this will mollify many fans of Nintendo's back catalogue looking for a new Virtual Console game to play. You can expect a review from us soon.

Wiiware only this week!

Art Style: light trax (600pts - Nintendo) – We would normally associate the "Art Style" brand with puzzles, but here's a racing game, though it still has the abstract visuals you'd expect. We'll have a review soon.

Manic Monkey Mayhem (800pts - Code Monkeys) – Virtual coconut fights against friends online is offered in this WiiWare game from Code Monkeys. We offered our thoughts on it some time ago, so check out our Manic Monkey Mayhem review for more information.

Viral Survival (500pts - NIS America) – We were a bit surprised to find out this collection of similarly-themed score attack games was being brought over from Japan, but given Nippon Ichi Software's other recent Wii release it seems logical. It's been nearly a year since we posted impressions on the Japanese release, Escape Virus, but we've been told Viral Survival has been localised without any real changes and includes online leaderboards as well. Read our Escape Virus First Impressions for more info until our review is ready.

Ben 10 Alien Force: The Rise of Hex (1000pts - Konami) — Cartoon hero Ben 10 comes to WiiWare in this action-adventure title. Find out if he made the trip intact in our upcoming review!

Voodoo Dice (1000pts - Ubisoft) — This die-rolling puzzler may or may not fit the bill for many. Best read our Voodoo Dice review to see if you should take a chance!

Robacalypse: Beaver Defense (600pts - Vogster Entertainment) — A comedic tower defence game that's been in the works for quite awhile. The premise of beavers fighting off waves of wise-cracking robots sounds cute enough, but you'll have to wait for our review to find out for sure.

Wild Guns (800pts SNES - Natsume) — A sci-fi themed western shooter in the same vein as TAD's arcade game Blood Bros. We'll let you know if this one is worth the 32-quarter asking price.

Reel Fishing Challenge II (500pts - Natsume, Inc.) -- You cannot have enough fishing on the Wii - at least that's what Natsume thinks! We'll give our own view on the subject soon enough.

Lead the Meerkats (1000pts - Lapland Studio) -- Could this be the meerkat simulator everyone's been waiting for? Read our Lead the Meerkats review to find out.

Zoo Disc Golf (1000pts - Sonalysts, Inc.) -- Disc golf played at the zoo, as you'd expect. It has meerkats in it, so it might be worthwhile - we'll let you know in our upcoming review.

Bejeweled 2 (1,000 Points - PopCap) The notorious gem-swapping gameplay hits WiiWare, complete with Mii support and online leaderboards. Check out our interview with producer Ty Roberts and our First Impressions of the title too.

Arcade Sports (800 Points - Icon Games) A compilation of Air Hockey, Bowling, Pool and Snooker, Arcade Sports features a season mode that could extend its longevity beyond its arcade origins. Stay tuned for our review on this one to see if four games for 800 Points is a worthwhile spend.

Yard Sale Hidden Treasures: Sunnyville (500 Points - Konami) Another hidden object game, this time based around hunting down objects at yard sales in order to win the "Superstar Homes Magazine Contest." Let's hope it fares better than other hidden object games on WiiWare such as "Aha! I Found It!" Hidden Object Game.

Virtual Console

Shadow of the Ninja (500 Points - Natsume) Outed by an OFLC rating a few weeks ago, this NES sidescroller attacks Virtual Console today. With two-player co-operative play across thirteen levels this should offer enough intense action to satisfy most gamers, and you can find out what we think in our upcoming review.

Art Style: Rotozoa (Nintendo, 600 Points) – This entry in the Art Style series emerged in Europe a few weeks ago under the guise of Penta Tentacles, and now it's arrived in North America with an infinitely less crap name. Check out our Art Style: Rotozoa review to see why it's the best thing to happen to tentacles since Dr. Octopus.

The Tales of Bearsworth Manor: Chaotic Conflicts (Square Enix, 1000 Points) – One half of a Bearsworth duo this week. The description in the press release doesn't do a whole lot of explaining as to what this is all about apart from that you'll be flinging paper bears at a storybook. We'll let you know how that works out.

The Tales of Bearsworth Manor: Puzzling Pages (Square Enix, 1000 Points) – More Bearsworth, but this one focuses on "innovative puzzles" as opposed to Chaotic Conflicts' action-oriented approach. Completing both games will reveal "an even deeper mystery," so get crackin', we suppose.

* Jett Rocket (Shin'en, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points): This 3D platformer allows the title character to use a jetpack, snowboard, or boat to navigate the planet Yoroppa.
* Pong Toss Pro: Frat Party Games (JV Games, 1-4 players, 600 Wii Points): If you're going to buy one game about throwing ping-pong balls into cups, it should probably be this one. Graphics, controls, and tournament options have all been redone.
* Robin Hood: The Return of Richard (Nordcurrent, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): Defeat the enemies of England by ... hiding in the forest and shooting arrows at them as they run by.

Virtual Console

* Mario Tennis (Nintendo 64, 1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points): This tennis game is responsible for introducing Waluigi to the world. Don't hold that against it.

Pearl Harbor Trilogy - 1941: Red Sun Rising (Legendo Entertainment, 700 Points) — The first entry in this dogfighting trilogy comes in for landing today. We'll let you know how it fared in the transition from PC to WiiWare, but in the meantime we've got plenty of coverage to hold you over, like an interview with Legendo, a hands-on impressions and, uh, paper airplanes.

Cruise Party (Enjoy Gaming, 800 Points) — A collection of Slot Machines, Roulette, Black Jack and "Video" Poker on a boat. T-Pain sold separately.

Toribash (1000pts - Nabi Studios) – A turns-based fighting game that's big on physics, Toribash is one of the rare WiiWare games to feature online play. Our review is currently in the works and will be up shortly.

Balloon Pop Festival (800pts - UFO Interactive) – Dubbed a "revolutionary puzzle game" in the accompanying press release, players user the Remote to create combos by connecting three balloons of the same colour. You have to recover the stolen holidays such as Valentine's Day and Talk Like a Pirate Day, and we'll have a full review soon.

I wonder if Nintendo is realizing the VC is not making as much money as they hoped for?

Dive: The Medes Islands Secret (Cosmonaut Games, 1000pts) – This underwater adventure takes a few leaves from the book of Samus Aran, promising a mixture of exploration, nimble manoeuvring and shooting helpless creatures with tranquilliser darts. Whilst you're waiting for our review, check out our First Impressions and we'll have the lowdown for you this week.

Heavy Fire: Special Operations (Teyon Games, 500pts) – An on-rails arcade-style shooter from Polish team Teyon, we wrote up our First Impressions of this one a few weeks ago, so have a read over them before waiting for our review to see if this one is a crackshot or a misfire.

Aero the Acrobat (Sunsoft, 800pts) – The return of the nimble nocturnal circus performer, this was released in Europe last week so our daredevil team of gymnastic reviewers is working on assembling a big top review shortly.
 
August 2nd

Fantasy Slots: Adventure Slots (Big John Games, 700 Points) — A whole mess of themed slot machines, including piratical, Grecian and Arthurian. We'll take this one-armed bandit for a spin and let you know if it's robbery or a steal.

Deer Captor (Aksys Games, 500 Points) — It sounds non-violent enough, but we're not sure how exactly you "capture" a deer using a crossbow or a rifle. Either way, any excuse to don the ol' camouflage and urine is enough for us. The TV won't know what hit it! Or the couch, for that matter.

Put your John Deer hats on! We's goin Virtual Huntin' :D Yee haw!
