What are the biggest overrated and underrated series/games in your opinion?

There was an unreleased sequel for the 64DD that never passed the beta stage. Disks have turned up recently but they're not in playable form.

It's ok if you disagree with an opinion, but you should go about it in a better way. It makes you look incredibly stupid when you don't say WHY you disagree and just try to come off as arrogant. And because of this and your constant arguing when I'm trying to set down the rules, you are on thin ice. Don't believe me? That's cool, maybe a temp-ban will convince you.

I wasn't crying about anything, I was warning you about your poor attitude and lack of respect for me when I'm only trying to warn you from getting banned here. It's like I said, I keep you in line sometimes so that maybe you'll learn you can't get away with acting like a child here. You can't act the way you do towards people sometimes (the OOT comments, for example) and you can't keep arguing with me when I'm doing my job as a mod. If anyone else was doing it, I'd be onto them too.

going through the posts everyone's opinions were valid, though you could have ended your posts a few sentences shorter hines

I'm a bit perplexed at what the general meaning for overrated is in this thread

Does it mean that the games were good at the time, but they are no longer the best games out in the market?
Or does it mean that at the time they weren't the best games but they had a lot of popularity?
could someone shed light on the subject?

Personally I think the halo games and OOT were great games that I had alot of fun playing them and seeing how there's been a massive argument about both of them, I would dare to call them overrated

I think they are good games but if someone doesn't agree that's fine, I may not like the games they like

Now enough derailing
One game I have played but didn't really care for was Metal Gear Solid and I feel it may be a tad overrated, if you disagree that's fine, if you can give me some legit reasons why you don't think so go for it

As far as underrated, I definitely give that one to Ico, I never even heard mention of it till I played SotC and I think it never really got its due credit

I think the Zelda games on the consoles are overrated
I think the Tales games are underrated
 
I know for me, mgs wasn't overrated when I fell in love with it. I got it and played it because the demo had me hooked. I'm sure if I had heard a bunch of hype about it like I did Halo and then played it, I wouldn't have enjoyed it.

I always thought MGS was ovverrated... until I beat the jet plane in the second one. After that, the plot had me hooked and I played it for 6 straight hours.
 
I think that Day of DEfeat Source is underrated. Not a bad game by any stretch, but its big brother Counterstrike takes all of its potential players away.

Although I believe there's a Mother 3 out in Japan, for the GBA? A friend of mine from another forum has it, but it might just be a remake.

Most underrated game? The Matrix:Path of Neo. Like Max Payne meets Spiderman 2. I suppose the cut-scenes that come straight from the movie are a little cheesy, but I had never seen the Matrix before that, so all they made me want to do was to see the movie.
 
I was looking for a game that prioritized hand to hand combat just as much as gunplay, where CQC was more than just something to do when you run out of anno or find yourself close to the enemy somehow. This game practically feel out of heaven and into Dollar General for me.
