Saw this through an email this morning.

My subscription was going to end on the 8th of September. So I bought a card from Amazon (even I don't pay the full $50.) Had I known this before I bought it, I would've let my subscription run out. Not paying for Live anymore out of principle. If I could get a refund for my current subscription, I would. But for now I have Live until next September.

They'll bump it up again before you know it.

That's the precedent I'm worried about. I was willing to stick up for $50 since that number hasn't really changed for years, but now, I can't condone paying more than that.

Sticking to Steam, and in the future a PS3, for my online needs.

UPDATE: Can't believe I missed this, but the 360 will have live streaming sports from ESPN. If I can watch my football and baseball games without having to pay for cable (and no local blackouts,) then this might not actually be a bad deal. I'd rather pay $60 a year than $60 a month for cable. Ugh, so torn right now!!! :(

Of course, for those of you who don't watch sports, it probably won't matter.

I'm pretty sure it's not ESPN or even ESPN 2 it's some other channel of ESPN that doesn't have major football or baseball games. I could be wrong.

that's what I'm trying to find out. It's ESPN3.com programming. I'm also trying to figure out if you need a compatible ISP, since I believe that's required for ESPN3.com and it's essentially the same service.

UPDATE: You do need a compatible ISP and mine isn't on there. Guess no renewal for me.

And this is what you're paying for $10 more a year. Something we didn't want.

To be fair they are offering $20 off renewal for a limited time (at least they still were this afternoon). Still, I believe kinect is probably going to fail so good thing i just got XBL last month :lol
