Segatron Genesis... call me the wizard.
Recently, I've been playing Mario Kart DS and it seemed like a new experience this time around. How in the world a game that's 5 years old, still being bundled with a newer model of the same system still selling like hotcakes? The same question can be applied to why Tetris has the same effect.
Noticing track after track, I have to say tracks like "Airship Fortress DS", "Waluigi's Pinball" and "Bowser's Castle DS" are very well designed imho.
SNES had some interesting tracks, like Choco Island 2, Donut Plains, and Bowser's Castle 3.
However, my hat goes off to the GBA Mario Kart which had a hefty 40 tracks in total. 20 for the new tracks and the return of all 20 SNES tracks.
Mario Kart 64 really needs no introduction and many adore it. I just can't play it anymore since it looks so blurry, but luckily the Virtual Console did justice for this game. Moo Moo Farm, Banshee Boardwalk, and Wario Stadium are honorable mentions.
Mario Kart Double Dash, I feel is the most difficult of the batch with different gameplay and tougher A.I. Yet, DK Mountain comes to mind as a fantastic track design.
After wondering why Nintendo chooses to release just one Mario Kart per console, it's really no doubt in my mind on how much replay value these games have. Once it's finished, that's it. No DLC, no expansions, etc. Nintendo always knows what they want to throw in or take out. I really look forward to Mario Kart 3DS.
