actually I find pawns to be rather useful if you can get them to the other side of the board you can get another queen out of it so I didn't just say it for the lols I said it on that fact, plus I've actually implemented pawns into my strategies so they're just as useful as all the others

And he has a good point. Each piece is very valuable, depending on how you use them. Some use Pawns as a scape goat, other's as their forward defence line, and especially for getting back that Rook or maybe your Queen when they take your own pieces.

I don't really stick to any set strategy. I just do whatever comes to mind as the best way to counter my opponent. So the value of each piece changes as the game goes for me.

(and it is the Queen that is the most valuable. 8 way movement, any direction. King's can only go one space. Though a rook is very valuable for Castle Guarding your king... See, that's why I say their values on the field always change)

The King is only valuable to winning, but it's usefulness is negated, since if it goes anywhere it can be taken, it is Check.

The entire reason or playing,is to defend your king and attack your opponent to kill his.once the king is checkmated,game over.That's why he's the most valuable.
If your in the endgame,you have a King and a Rook,and your opponent has just a king.That's an easy checkmate,but it requires your king to help the Rook,otherwise,you cannot checkmate you adversary.

The numeric value of the pieces are: King=Infinite
Queen=9.0 pts.
Rook=5.0 pts.
Knight=3.1 pts.
Bishop=3.2 pts.
Pawn=1 pt. until promoted

These values can change drastically depending on what the position these pieces take during a game.

Besides. Had we all just said "It is the King", there'd be little discussion here would there, as we would agree. In the case put here, there is an argument about the relitave and ever altering value of a piece, and what different people do with it during the course of a game.

(ive use my King as a decoy for pawns to take the filed once, and brought down a players two bishops. My King then sat there, pointless.)

It's important to me that don't think I was insulting your intelligence.
Kasparov Is a Grand Master,the highest honor available in chess.He's also an extremely cocky player,but with a rating of over 2800 before he retired,some would say he's earned the "Bragging Rights".

The chess rating system starts around 1000 and up to over 2800+
My rating is like 1501,not even close to him. :lol

I'd agree that with so many winnings, you'd have the rights to brag a little too lol.
 
The King no matter what the situation. The Queen is probably most useful (depending on the situation, a Knight could be too), but the King is needed to win the game so it should always be valued over every other piece on the board.
