I think getting someone the perfect present is so much better than getting one. I love seeing someone open a present and just flipping out in excitement because it's something they really wanted.
Agreed.
It just sucks sometimes when you know a person's interests and tastes really well but you can't find something on a shelf in a store that really fits their personality. Seeing someone's glee at opening a gift you bought for them, something that they really enjoy, is awesome. However, seeing their disappointment when you were unable to find a gift that they would really enjoy, well, that can suck.
Personally I always equate Christmas time with good books, good movies, and good video games. There's nothing better than kicking back on some holidays, grabbing a blanket, maybe even some tea or snack, plopping down on a couch, and reading/watching/playing until nap time. Putting all responsibilities on hold and just taking some time to do the things I
want, without feeling guilty like I
should be using my time for something else, is the real treat of Christmas time.
Things Associated With Christmas:
Movies: LOTR: FOTR, and that behind the scenes Star Wars documentary they show on A&E every Christmas
Books: Calving & Hobbes is my first choice, but anything authored by Tolkien will do in a pinch
Videogames: I always get the urge to pop in Majora's Mask all through Winter, but anything
adventurous is a good bet. Might look into Fable 2 this year...
