I have not had the same luck as you with Sony. Their receivers are horrible, I had one that literally started smoking after being on for only 2 hours :-\ Their consoles are pretty well made, though. I am honestly not saying this as a fanboy, but I have never had a faulty Nintendo product. Same with Samsung.

Started smoking? :lol Forgive me for laughing,but something like that you'd see in movies and stuff.
 
Haha I agree! I mean you hear about things like that but you never really expect to see it yourself.
 
Apple, when I can afford it.
Philips is alright.
Mad Catz is suitable for gaming when I'm on a budget.
HP is really good when it come to my computer.
 
I am an Asus and SteeleSeries fanboy. Asus can do no wrong and the only thing I don't like about SteeleSeries is that they do so many WoW accessories.

And I hate just about every Apple product.
 
I have no brand loyalties. I go for whatever is best at the time. Sony used to make great products, now they make a lot of crap. Anything car audio from them is garbage, their headphones, amplifiers, speakers, and their TVs are just so so these days. Bose is another great example. Once they actually made something good but now they are crap.

I don't know Polygon.I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you on the Bose brand.A couple years back I bought a pair of Bose headphones at Future Shop for $250.00 and the sound quality was truly awesome.I'm very glad I bought them.Barring any unforeseen disaster,I'll never have to buy another pair of headphones until Rapture.

I'm sorry man, Bose is just over priced crap. If you think they sound good then you haven't heard anything truly good. Do they sound better than run of the mill crap like Sony, yeah, but they are no where near the level of stuff like Grado, Sennheiser, or a few other brands I could name off.

I've never heard of those brands. :lol I'm not the Sultan of Brunei either,if I've never heard of those brands before,then chances are they're pretty high-end products so good and expensive that they don't have to advertise.

They make models that are competitive with Bose. I know that sound is subjective but having heard quality components and then hearing Bose it just sounds horrible. My system sounds better than anything Bose makes and I assure you didn't spend as much. I still recall being at a car show and hearing this horrible sounding music and I said, where they hell is that coming from? I turned around a I was facing a Bose speaker. I said, that explains it.

No highs no lows, must be Bose.

Really though, my problem with Bose is that they are consumer level stuff but they are charging entry level audiophile prices.

I remember years ago having a pair of Yamaha stereo headphones that weren't to bad.

Yeah, Yamaha used to have some great stuff. I have one of their CD players it was one of the first ones that came out that thing had some awesome sound quality. So did a tape deck I had from theme, same series. They stopped working a few years back. Sadly, they don't make stuff nearly as good anymore. :(

My sister and her husband have a Harman Kardon amp they bought a few years ago.Are they any good?

For the most part, most definitely. The older Harman Kardon stuff is absolutely top notch and their new stuff is very good as well, but have had some slight quality control issues. I had a 7.1 HK receiver a few years ago which was superb but like an idiot I sold it :-X

It looked like it was pretty upscale.
