Mortal Kombat or Marvel vs. Capcom

Mortal Kombat? I dunno man, it's always the same thing in most MK games. two motions and a punch or a kick to perform a move. So I would call it, well a lazy man's fighter. However, I didn't care for Armaggedon, I think of MK3 or MK2 where you had to rely on your own combo system to get by. Instead of holding down and pressing punch to hopefully land a perfect uppercut. Button smashing would be like Soul Calibur or Tekken's jugglers. Guilty Gear...is well Guilty of that too, just like Marvel Vs. Capcom. If I can pull off 6 hits without doing much,

Scorpion's UMK3 combo comes to mind. Down-Back+ LP, Back-Back+ LP, Then HP, HP, HK, and Back+HK. That was the usual combo I used. It's debatable, but my opinion that's not button smashing.

MVC2 Vs. MVC1. Spider-Man for example was much depth compared to MVC2. Jump, land in with HP, and quickly press HP, LP,LP, MK, HK. Yet in MVC2, it's just HP-HP-HP-HP-HK-HK

Killer Instinct, this was my deadly Saberwulf combo. Hold Back 2 seconds, Press Foward+ HK. Tap LP,LP, Hold forward 2 seconds while you do that, quickly press back and hit HP for two more hits, then counter with MP,MP, charge back again for 2 seconds while hitting MP, hit foward+HP. Bam, I just landed a 13 hit KING COMBO!

Tekken 2's Jun Kazama was one of my favorite female fighters, yet her button smasher was LP, LP (Left Punch), RK (Right Kick), RK, LK, LK (Left Kick)

Most fighting games, except DOA, which I managed to learn the precise button presses to do combos. :D But only for certain characters. :P

The term "Button Masher" brings to mind the local Iron Fist Tournament hosted by EB games whenever Tekken 5 hit the shelves. My daughter entered the contest. She had meticulously learned the moves of Yoshi Mitsu. The guys in the contest were nothing but button mashers. She was so disappointed. They were saying that her games were the best. She quit midway through, by turning to me and saying, "Come on dad lets go. I'd rather be shopping."

Same. In fact, DOA is about the only fighting game I've ever really enjoyed {the one on Xbox}.
