Why Is The XBOX Running Away With All Of The Good RPG Titles?

well that's actually pretty much what i learned to expect from any JRPG that doesn't have the name FINAL FANTASY on it, regardless of it's company =/ the fact that the user score is different from reviewers scores is what i like to point out and also

this is an 8.0 from gametrailers and the end of the trailer is what makes me think the last remnant might actually not be as bad as the reviewers themselves say it is...

One 8 isn't the greatest thing in the world. I'm just saying, YOU may like it. MOST people don't. That's it.

and all i'm saying is that apparently most users do like this game.... and even if they didn't it shouldn't be counted out as a "good RPG for the 360" because it is controversial. there is a weird difference in opinions here and there. is like Final Fanasy XII is very controversial and how tales of symphonia dawn of the new world is controversial, some reviewers didn't like it others did, but yet they are considered a good buy for many and at least a try for some.

and again most JRPGs are always reviewed as average if they don't have the Final Fantasy name written on it

I dont see how just these two games are controversial (BTW neither are on Xbox 360), but FF12 apparently it was good if they decided to use its engine in Infinite Undiscovery, I dont or havent seen anyone say it was bad, maybe among the rankings of the FF lineage as not being the best one but certainly better than say a game like Ping Pals.

Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World is clearly catered to the fan base of Tales of Symphonia fans so I doubt it needs to worry about being good or bad, just as Smash Brothers Brawl didnt seem to draw many new people in but catering to the 7 million people who owned Melee on the gamecube.

To put my final word on reviews, I would rather put more trust in aggregate review scores, aggragate player review scores to possible rank as good. A veteran RPG player would have a higher appreciation for game in the RPG genre so their view could be biased the same as a FPS player might have a bias against RPG's claiming that they are too slow, time consuming, and lack constant action.

We could always do a Chi Squared Test of Homogeneity to see if there is a difference in the proportion of good (as being 80 or above) for the games in the RPG genre on the Xbox 360 as apposed to the ones on the PS3 to see if the Xbox 360 is in fact Running Away With All of the Good RPG titles. ...
 
Well why don't we just say that good or bad, the 360 has a lot of rpgs, and leave it at that. Whether you actually like them or not, well that's a matter of opinion, which can (and has been) argued in circles. If you're really curious about the 360 rpgs, just get a 360 and try them for yourself.

Hi All!

To start off,I think it's complete bull$#@% that systems like the "DS" and "360" are getting what appears to be,some of the best titles,especially RPG'S.I understand that they are looking to boost sales for these consoles,but c'mon!

I paid over $600 for my "60GB PS3".Don't get me wrong,I'm am lucky to have a "60GB" model.People have offered me some generous offers for it,I politely decline.I know the 360 had a good jump on the "PS3" with respect to it's release date.As much as I hate to say it,other than "FFXIII",I can't think of any upcoming RPG that I'm exited about.

The new "Star Ocean" for the 360 seems awesome.(my brother has it.)Please correct me if I'm wrong,but is it just me,or is Sony not "Cutting the Mustard"?(Killzone aside)

it's not sony's fault, the third parties are the ones that choose where the RPGs go, and to be honest i am surprised myself that some companies chose the 360 for some of the RPGs that were released or going to be released.

but overall consoles are not getting as many RPGs as last generation, it appears that making RPGs for handhelds must give developers more profit, due to the fact that the bast majority of RPG games come for the DS or PSP, and quite frankly i really don't mind (TWEWY FTW)

also i believe the ps3 will get white knight chronicles, the exclusive FFXIIIversus, there is rumors of a dark cloud 3 which they look really great (except dark cloud 3 becuase all i know about it is that there is an article of the game in wikipedia xD i am not even sure if it is true)

This. I hate to say it but if you really love RPG's you pretty much have to get a DS. It is the RPG king of this generation. But yea, I do understand your frustrations considering that the previous 2 Sony consoles were the definite RPG kings. {more like RPG Gods!}

Would it be magical thinking to assume that if Sony offered more money than their competition for the exclusive rights to particular game title or series?It's not like the Sony Corporation has money problems.

but then games would end up with certain technical difficulties like last remnant for the 360 which was a good game but it had a lot of glitches

Sony still has a couple of the highest rated (and the #1 rated) RPG's of this gen. I guess the others are just getting more. However, the PSP I would say has alot as well.

i don't think that's correct sir, because according to gamerankings the 360 (and sometimes pc versions) of the 2 best rate RPGs this gen are actually rated a teeny bit more than the ps3 counterparts (for who knows why =_=U) and when we take out those 2 games the list follows like this

chrono trigger DS- 92.39%
mass effect - 91.11%
the world ends with you 88.18%
valkyria chronicles 86.66%
(i am not counting PC games... because i am not sure if i should count them as next-gen... if so then World of Warcraft goes before chrono trigger DS)

I believe consoles are getting an equal amount of RPG quality, though it does seem the DS is getting some love as well (the rest of the list has a lot of DS games)

The only thing I see as the problem here is that MS is getting a few exclusives, well a few, well I can only think of maybe Mass Effect and Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean) but any of the others have all or are coming to the PS3,

like Enchanted Arms, Eternal Sonata and others.
PSP is snatching a lot of RPGs remakes for people, and hey, some of them have even become superior remakes/enchanced ports of their DS and original counterparts.

I think the DS is where the RPG's are at liek DQ and classic FF remakes.

I still prefer my PS3 though as some of the ones that have gone to it were superior versions due to enhanced and added features. Actually I had to get the PS3 cause my favorite series Disgaea is on it, and the PSP because the remakes and enhanced ports are awesome, and hey Star Ocean remakes, Disgaea remakes, SRPG's, and a myriad of others.

actually i was not sure if it was ok to put it up there either, i just posted the next gen titles after fallout and obvlivion
