Wii: An Analysis - By SgtWoodsy

Ooh! Pretty rainbow!
I've just come back from the Electronics and Games Expo in Melbourne, and I've played the Wiis there to death.

Here's an analysis on all of the games previewed there. I'll give them all a score as well.

Wii Sports:
I only got to play Tennis, but it's still good fun. You can do both forehands and backhands, and serving is easy. Power Shots aren't as easy for the unco-ordinated, but they're doable.
SCORE: 8/10 (So far. It depends on how all the other sports are like.)

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
I was a bit disappointed with this. It's pretty good, but the whole sword control is a bit tacked on. The fishing, however, is good fun. It's like the real thing, expect with pointier ears. Or something. (I'm too tired to write anything actually funny.)
SCORE: 7/10 (If they fix the sword control, this gets a 10.)

WarioWare: Smooth Moves
This is excellent. You could compare this to the EyeToy series on the PS2, except you're not on the screen. Before each game, there's a short movie showing you how to hold the controller. You do that, and you'll pass the level easily. There's also a Boss Stage every so often.
SCORE: 9/10

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
If I has to choose between this and Sonic WildFire (A.K.A Sonic and the Secret Rings), I would pick Sonic any day of the week. Both have simliar control schemes, but this one adds unessesary buttons, and that just clutters the whole thing up.
SCORE: 7/10

Red Steel (World First! Hooray!)
This game was a world-first preview to my knowledge, anyway. I love this game. The guns are spot-on, and the control system isn't too shabby as well. Also, when I decided to kill someone with the sword except with a gun, the people around me (At the Expo, not in the game) gave me a nice little round of applause. Get this game, and you shall share in that as well.
SCORE: 9/10

Sonic and the Secret Rings (World First! Hooray!)
I find no fault with this. Expect the name, but I call it Sonic WildFire anyway. The graphics are great. The sound is great. The gameplay is great. The control scheme is great.
JUST BUY THE DAMN THING, ALREADY!
SCORE: 10/10

In summary, the Wii is an excellent console, and it should be bought by all.

Thank you for reading.

Awesome. Sonic was amazing, as I would have figured. Also, I expect more people to be dissapointed in Zelda as well. It might be a good game, but not worth 3 years the wait.

I find it amusing that you're disappointed with Zelda, yet you give Wildfire a 10. I would completely disagree, but that's neither here nor there.

And for the record, Wario Ware (I agree) is amazing. I think that would have been a super, ultra, omega ideal launch title. Why it isn't coming until January I have no damn clue. Sigh.

he is a bit right though... the control system is a bit "tacked on."  However...it's still good. It was originally a Gamecube game... that had Wii controls "tacked on" ... so-to-speak. I mean... they delayed the original game to add Wii controller support, and then just put the whole thing to the Wii. Regardless... the controls aren't bad at all.

They should have done something SPECIAL for the Gamecube version being it was the last Gamecube Zelda to come out. But that's just my opinion I guess. I mean... special packaging, a special Gamecube controller... or something.

BV :hat

For you bud.

Buy a Wii. It's well worth it. Forget about TP on GCN.

I don't think any game's worth $300. That's how Nintendo screwed over their fanbase. But, I'm sure they'll justify it by saying "well it's nintendo"...or "well the game's worth $300". Ehh, I'm still debating on whether to get it for the Wii when I get it or not.

Then buy it for GCN if that's what you want and don't whine. TP is well worth 300 dollars. I've been waiting a decade for this game and it's finally here. And there's plenty more to come. Super Mario Galaxy and MP3 kick major ass. But.. . . do what you will pal, do what you will.

I think the Wii is worth it just for Wii Bowling. All the fun of bowling without the noisy bowling alleys. And yes, I am being serious.

But more along the lines of what Sartori is saying, I want to add: Don't forget about Super Smash Bros. Brawl. :D

The only issue with that is Brawl is a year away.

And yes, Bowling kicks ass.

Wario Ware is an absolute blast. Make sure EVERYONE picks this up when it comes out.

And Metroid Prime 3? It's the shit. It's awesome blossom.

So when it's a complaint about Sony or Microsoft, it's complaining. When it's about Nintendo screwin up, it's whining. :lol

Super Mario galaxy looks fun, but what's MP3?

Metroid Prime 3. It plays amazingly.

It's so awesome.

And yeah. If you don't think Sony dropped the bomb on this one, you're nuts. I seriously can't wait for Iwata to drop the bomb on Japan in December... it'll be bigger than the one dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I never said Sony did good. I think they did the complete opposite. I agree with Microsoft and Nintendo. This is the year of the Wii60.
