I've just come back from the Electronics and Games Expo in Melbourne, and I've played the Wiis there to death.
Here's an analysis on all of the games previewed there. I'll give them all a score as well.
Wii Sports:
I only got to play Tennis, but it's still good fun. You can do both forehands and backhands, and serving is easy. Power Shots aren't as easy for the unco-ordinated, but they're doable.
SCORE: 8/10 (So far. It depends on how all the other sports are like.)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
I was a bit disappointed with this. It's pretty good, but the whole sword control is a bit tacked on. The fishing, however, is good fun. It's like the real thing, expect with pointier ears. Or something. (I'm too tired to write anything actually funny.)
SCORE: 7/10 (If they fix the sword control, this gets a 10.)
WarioWare: Smooth Moves
This is excellent. You could compare this to the EyeToy series on the PS2, except you're not on the screen. Before each game, there's a short movie showing you how to hold the controller. You do that, and you'll pass the level easily. There's also a Boss Stage every so often.
SCORE: 9/10
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
If I has to choose between this and Sonic WildFire (A.K.A Sonic and the Secret Rings), I would pick Sonic any day of the week. Both have simliar control schemes, but this one adds unessesary buttons, and that just clutters the whole thing up.
SCORE: 7/10
Red Steel (World First! Hooray!)
This game was a world-first preview to my knowledge, anyway. I love this game. The guns are spot-on, and the control system isn't too shabby as well. Also, when I decided to kill someone with the sword except with a gun, the people around me (At the Expo, not in the game) gave me a nice little round of applause. Get this game, and you shall share in that as well.
SCORE: 9/10
Sonic and the Secret Rings (World First! Hooray!)
I find no fault with this. Expect the name, but I call it Sonic WildFire anyway. The graphics are great. The sound is great. The gameplay is great. The control scheme is great.
JUST BUY THE DAMN THING, ALREADY!
SCORE: 10/10
In summary, the Wii is an excellent console, and it should be bought by all.
Thank you for reading.
