Nintendo has announced that starting today the Opera-powered Wii Internet Channel is available free of charge.

That's right, surf the internet, watch online TV, buy stuff all via your Nintendo. All you need is an internet connection.

The browser was priced at 500 Wii Points (US$5) but was originally offered to Wii owners free of charge. To compensate, Nintendo is offering those who already have the channel a NES, Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 Virtual Console game. Offer ends in late October. Life goes on.

those idiots...i knew it was free when you first got the wii years ago, then i bought it for mine...now they are giving it back for free?

thats why i hate nintendo.
 
By the time I see this topic, I had to get the free Internet Channel for my Wii now because I had the advantage to do it without points.
Same thing happens to Japanese Wii systems too.

At least you get a free game though... if they give you a free N64 game... maybe you can get Sin and Punishment (Rocks!)

I know it sucks it wasn't free up front... probably what happened is they were pressured by PS3 and other sales and decided to give it for free.

sadly, my wii sat idle so long that i decided it best to return it and get a ps3...

However... my Wii doesnt sit dormant :lol ... er....

I've downloaded it and surfed around a bit, its a feature I doubt I will ever really use. It is nice to have though I suppose.
