Wii won't make holiday demand

According to a statement by Reggie, the Wii shortages will continue through the holiday season.

Okay, this is starting to get ridiculous. Its been almost a year since launch and Nintendo still can't manage to keep Wii's in surprise...wth.

It's either a publicity stunt or poor management. Fils-Aime says, "The issue is we went in with a curve that was aggressive, but the demand has been substantially more than that. And the ability to ramp up production and to sustain it is not a switch that you flick on." I agree it's not as simple as turning on a light, but how many lights can you turn on in an entire year? A helluvalot more than one.

they didnt make holiday denand LAST year!
I'm sure the whole, unxexpected success and fact that it came out mid November didn't help, right?

It's sad. I thought Nintendo cared about the people.
I think they are doing what they can to get Wii's into stores. It only hurts them to continue having these shortages. I'm thinking there must be some kind of problem with manufacturing.

They're still outselling everything, so they're probably just waiting until they start to have the gap closed, then just have a Wii explosion. Complete with new colors.

Well with them selling so well it is no wonder there is always a shortage. I don't think it would be hard to get one right now though if you just went to a store.

Conspiracy theory time! :o

I think Nintendo was deliberately not producing enough Wiis because the game library sucked and they were afraid if people realized it, they wouldn't buy Wiis. Instead, they made it so that it was so hard to get, that when people actually saw it, they had this mentality of "OMG! It's a Wii! Quick, let's buy it while it's here!" and ignored that the game library sucked.

Of course, now that they have Metroid Prime 3 out with SSBB and Super Mario Galaxy coming out, Christmas is coming up, and they would be undersupplied anyway.

But I bet anything that after January or February or so, supply will be more even with demand.

The game library didn't suck, it was actually pretty decent for a launch window library.

Agreed

To Nintendo it didn't suck, because they had Zelda in it, and they still haven't realized Zelda's now aren't really that epic.

I think the reason there arent enough wiis is because people buy the hell out of them.... kinda hard to get systems out when they are in such high demand

It's more keep systems out. Everyone and their literal grandmother has heard about it and can play, and with Metroid, Mario, and Smash all out by Christmas, demand will be even higher.

Mario has that hardcores will play and casuals can play thing going on, though. It won't sell as many as Smash, though, that's a given.
