Wii's Online Service

What do you guys think about it? For myself, there's some pros and cons.

Pros
-Free (Speaks for itself)
-Virtual Console (Tons of great games for fair prices)
-Useful Channels

Cons
-When it lags, it lags real bad (And sometimes it's not just the gamer's connection)
-Friend Codes are annoying (especially since you don't know if someone's trying to add you or not)
-No voice chat (even with friends?!)

well i never experienced lag with any of the games i played....maybe i'm just lucky XD

TBH, I haven't played any Wii games online yet, so I couldn't tell you anything from experience. I guess we'll see when SSBB comes out, though. :)

i played a few times super mario strikers and batallion wars and they were all fluid and "lagless" to me, maybe i have a good internet connection.

same for DS games, no lag whatsoever

I haven't lagged either, and they don't have skipping lag, they have slowdown lag, which I think is far superior.

Really? What games do you play online? The only Wii game that has never skip lagged on me was GH3.

I've played some Strikers and BWii.

The Wii's online service well...sucks.

Online isn't even available in most games, and when it is, it is almost always pretty bare-bones and leaves a lot to be desired. Plus, there is absolutely no voice chat offered.

Lag though is really gonna depend on the game not the Wii's online itself.

Well Nintendo offers the servers, and sometimes, it's either not enough, or a faulty server.

I actually think its okay. It never really lags for me, except right before someone looses connection from me on GH3. I play Medal of Honor Heroes 2 and there is not any lag. But voice chat and just one friend code instead of one for every game would be nice.

And third party games offer third party servers...

I like how it is free and not hard to set up, and its online feature are awesome (Web browser, Everybody Votes Channel, etc.)

But every time I watch a review of an online enable Wii game, they always speak of random drop outs and lag.

Still no voice chat...entering in LONG codes is a pain

One upper advantage is having to use a USB Keyboard to type quicker is cool.

Yet still no DLC for GH3? Uber lame.

I haven't had Lag issues yet. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be bad.

Kinda sad when third party servers work better than Nintendo servers, huh?
Not really, it's pretty understandable since Nintendo's been in it for way less time.

That has what to do with anything?

They have been lazy when it comes to online play, and they still are. It's not the publishers fault that they have third party servers, it leads back to Nintendo.

No, third party companies usually have their own third party servers.
