Wii's Virtual Console (Breaking down price wise, the real story)

I prefer SNES games on my keyboard... not that I play SNES games on it :p

It takes some adjusting but its nothing terrible. And I thought that Nintendo was offering the games for free? Or are their 1st party games still free? As much as Nintendo likes milking franchises I wouldn't be surprised.

Once again, check my earlier post. Nintendo's not targeting "internet dude #1337", he's targeting Joe Consumer, who doesn't know much (if anything) about emulation or buying/owning older games, since he traded all of his NES stuff in to GameStop for 5 bucks total.

If it bothers you that bad, go buy them on "eBay" (don't forget that 3-5 dollar shipping!) or find them in person perhaps..?

But with digital distribution, there is no shipping charge. So, $3 game, plus $0 shipping fee, equals $5? To me it just doesn't add up.

The downloading classics feature should be something that is utilized to sell consoles, not to turn a huge profit.

Personally Im glad it's kind of this way because in my opinion the original Wii games should be the ones that sell the same system, not older games. The older games are just extra.

They should have stuck to an IPOD concept... $1 per game no matter what system... OR something like that.

But that's my $0.02....

Oh well.

What I'm trying to tell you is that if you were to use the alternative, IE eBay, you'd lose almost the cost of the game from Nintendo on shipping.

That's be a great idea.

If the intention was to lose a lot of money.

I think 5 is EXTREMELY cheap.Especially since you won't be able to find them in most stores. If you think paying 5 dollars for a classic game is expensive.........you are one poor chap

Exactly... and i went to the used game store in omaha today and i was thinkin of buying Tecmo Super Bowl... $15!!!

A lot of those games aren't as cheap as people think...

I think this is very nice what Nintendo is doing

I really don't see how they would lose money since they have already been on the market. These aren't games that have been recently been programmed.

But the situation, as it is, completely skips the middle man. Hence the ability to sell these games at a marginal cost.

Nintendo would also make more money per sold game if they raised the individual game price by $20, but I don't see anyone campaigning for that.

But with something like that you have to take into account the fact that you are buying something that physically exists, meaning that the materials carts are made out of up the cost. As well, they can also be considered collector's items, and thus, can sell for far more than $15. However, as I have already mentioned, BV himself is selling NES cartridge games for $3-$4 apiece, yet Nintendo is selling a digital version of these for $5 apiece.

Sounds fishy to me.

:lol Sorry, I just found that funny. $10 for N64 games though... kinda steep...

So is anyone not going to download the VC's games because you don't want to pay a few extra dollars for them?

Depends. Im going to download Goldeneye only because I can't find it cheaper than $10 in cart form. Those are usually the games I might download.

I will certainly download less than I initially intended to. I'll probably end up just buying the tried and true titles, ones that I know are worth the money and are good for nostalgic purposes. That is, of course, pending I buy the system at all.  :lol

Ifyou buy it at all?Come on man,it will easily be the best console of the group-maybe not the best graphics, but it's games will certainly be overwhelmingly better than the other two's

And just out of curiosity:how much were you thinking the VC's games would cost?

I don't know about that, the PS3 and the 360 got some pretty awesome games coming out here soon...

Neither the Wii nor the PS3 is out yet, which therefore leads me to believe you have not played a single game on either of those consoles, barring perhaps early demos shown at E3 or some closely related event. So I wonder, what exactly are you basing this assertion off of?

As I've already stated numerous times, $2-$3 a game, tops.

True, but for some of us it has the most attractive games.

True, but for some of us it has the most attractive games.

Saying game x appeals to you and saying gamex is "overwhelmingly better" than game y are two different things entirely. Saying that "some of us" are "attracted" to upcoming games in retaliation to what I said seems to be irrelevant not only because it fails to prove or disprove the point I'm trying to make, but also because it kind of goes without saying.
