I was watching a documentary last night on the ocean's most dangerous animals.

It showed several(some graphic)attacks on people from Sharks(You can thank Spielberg for making Sharks look even worse.),Killer Whales,Octopi,Barracudas,Moray Eels,Portuguese Man Of Wars,Box Jellyfish,Stingrays.Do you see where I'm going with this?

STAY THE HELL OUT OF THE OCEAN!!

Peace.

In order to break out of a Shark attack....punch the shark in the nose....trust me, he will back off.

...

I'm sorry, but no. If a shark that is larger, and more agile than me in water has a hold of my leg and is yanking me under water, reaching its nose to punch is gonna be difficult at best.

As competative as I am, sharks are the ONE thing that I am sure would own me...especially bull sharks. BTW, both bull sharks and great white sharks have been known to swim in brackish or even occasionally fresh water... Sharks have been found in tributaries of the Mississippi River on occasion. Bull sharks can swim in water only a few feet deep and most often attack people in murky water when the person did not realize that sharks could be in water that shallow.

Threshers, blue sharks, and tiger sharks are fairly dangerous as well.

I have a VERY healthy respect for sharks and, most likely, an irrational fear of them. I love the ocean, swimming, snorkling, etc... But sharks are to be avoided when possible.

Note how shallow that water is! ^

Dude, the ocean is a blast. Its definitely worth the very minimal risk of sharks to go out there and body surf the waves or whatever.

And I heard that in addition to punching its nose, some people will actually like rip the sharks eye out. I dunno which works better.

Bull sharks actually frequently swim into fresh water. One was found in an irrigation canal in Australia hundreds of miles from the ocean.

STAY THE HELL OUT OF THE OCEAN!!

It is very rare for most of those creatures to attack humans. The odds of being attacked by any of these creatures are extremely low, and some, (like the box jelly) are only in a very small portion of the world's oceans.

That being said, I'm not gonna jump into the water with a shark right next to me, but I'm not expecting to be attacked, especially in shallower waters.

Going by your rational we should just not ever leave our houses...There is danger everywhere, you can't let that prevent you from doing what you want to do. I love swimming and other water sports, so there's no way I am staying out of the water because there is a small chance something might attack me.

More people are killed by bees each year than by sharks. True fact. ^_^

I like sharks.
and I'm not sure what's worse... death by bees or by sharks.

That's the misconception. Bull sharks swim in VERY shallow FRESH OR SALT water.

How are you going avoid a shark when he has the home court advantage?

Would it not be difficult to be rational enough to do so?If I was attacked,I would probably go into shock. The upshot is,I'm absolutely terrified of the ocean. :o

Someone should ask Scyth,he lives in one the most dangerous parts of the world when it comes to dangerous marine/dry land animals I believe.

I've researched for info about this crazy curiosity, but no luck. But we're sort of on the topic.

Who would win between a Great White vs. a Killer Whale?Gotta know.

To avoid a shark, stay out of his home court!

Sharks feast on whale carcasses. I do not know if a lone great white shark could actually successfully attack a killer whale if it were in a group. Perhaps a wounded, old, or very young killer whale could fall pray to a great white though.

A few years ago in my area, shark attacks became frquent but as of now, people crowd beaches. Sharks aren't always around in one area, or are they going to just attack for the hell of it either. I don't see the constant worry about sharks. Shark Week and Jaws just amplifies that fear. (imho)

And...bees? O_o That's interesting....xD

Forgive me Grindspine,I'm a little off today.
I guess what I mean by home court is the ocean as a whole. How can you avoid them if you fell in or something. You're helpless. While I'm at it,the idea of punching a shark in the nose to make him retreat is hogwash.(@ Mega,no offense.)The initial shock of being in the water and seeing a shark roll up on you.(if you even see him)
would cause most people to panic, not being able to collect themselves soon enough to strike him in the nose.On top of that, unless your Mike Tyson, your strikes would be greatly reduced in power and speed in the water.
