CNN/Money calls the PS3 a "Sinking ship"

Darn you are going to miss the trophies for completing the single player levels with multiple people online (like 2-4 people) as well as those special areas on ecach of those levels in which you get prizes for having more players to access them.

Man, I never knew the PS3 had a built in web browser, how awesome! It functions pretty well with just the controller. I really want a keyboard for it now. Will any USB keyboard work or is there like a special one just for the PS3?

Guys this sucks, but I had to sell the PS3 :-\ I was dumb and bought it on impulse and realised I simply cannot afford it right now. I need to pay rent and my PC is in desperate need of a new hard drive {mine's dying} and PSU, so those things need to come first. I should be able to pick one back up in a few months or so, though. I can honestly say it was the best console I ever had...for like 3 days >:( My birthday is coming up and I might try to score a DS so I at least have one current gen machine. But yea, this suuuuuuuuuckkkkkkkks!

Sorry to hear that X2. If you survived this long without a PS3, a little while longer won't hurt. :)

Going back to the lowering of the PS3 price, I think they should and here is my reasoning why:

I think what Sony needs to do right now is to just get their consoles in as many homes as possible. The more people that own a PS3, the more games they will sell. Not to mention, a lower price point will attract the non-gamers who just want a blu-ray player and quite possibly turn them into gamers. They are getting killed by 360 and Wii. Sony needs to bite the bullet and just do what it takes. People have mentioned the economy and that is a huge reason people are being more picky with their consoles.

The PS3 is a graphical powerhouse. If more people owned the console, the more people will probably choose the PS3 version over the 360 version. At this point for Sony, it's about software sales. God of War III is on the horizon and having more people owning a PS3 will just make GOW III a huge seller.

So in conclusion, take off $50-$100 off the price and you'll have more people not just buying the console but even more games as well.

I heard that Sony will most likely finally turn profit on the PS3 in '09 due to much lower production costs and more sales. When I bought mine I asked the guy at GS how they were selling and he said PS3 is really starting to pick up {thanks to games like MGS4 and LBP I'd imagine}. After actually owning the console I can say it was worth every penny of the $399. It is a very high quality machine and the features of the machine are amazing. Just the sound quality alone blew my mind, it is leaps and bounds above DVD sound. I just think if more people knew how awesome the PS3 really is, they'd have no problem paying the $399. It is the true next gen console. And I personally think it already has a pretty darn good lineup of triple A titles, and there will be so many more to come as well.

The issue isn't if the PS3 is worth the money. I'm sure many people will agree that it is. The problem is, do people have enough money to spend on it when other consoles have just as many good games and are cheaper?

I guess another question is, does Sony care? If they want to remain a "luxury" item, then that's their choice and people shouldn't complain about the price. But something tells me that that isn't what Sony wants the PS3 to be.

Well yea, that's just it, a lot of people see no reason to buy the PS3 when they can get a 360 for cheaper. I think a lot of people only see the sticker price but fail to realize in the long run the PS3 might be cheaper for them. The online is free, and if Blu-Ray players become the "norm", then it would save you from having to buy one down the line.

Will it be cheaper? It really depends. You still have to factor in peripherals and software. So it either is or it isn't cheaper. I think for the vast majority who just want to game, it won't necessarily be.

I mean, the PS3 doesn't even come with any type of cable that displays High Definition, not even 720p. That's just ludicrous if you ask me. And blu-ray is still a gamble as far as video is concerned. Especially since you now have many streaming services that display really nice HD video.

Yeah, but you can find a cheap HDMI cable...a really cheap one that will show 1080p flawlessly. You still have to pay $100 extra if you want to play 360 online wrielessly.

But you don't have to play wirelessly. Again, it's dependent on the individual's situation, which was my overall point. More people have wired connections than they do wireless. Not to mention wired is more reliable than wireless.

Also, this isn't against Sony, but there are so many people out there who don't know about cheap HDMI cables and go out and spend the big cash on them. In a way, if Sony were to provide some type of cable that displays HD it wouldn't actually be such a big deal.

I still have absolutely no intention on buying a PS3. Not because I am anti-Sony, it's because there is no reason to. They're still pumping out PS2 games right now. That and I don't have $500 stuffed in the mattress so I can buy one.
