MasterSystem has got a Wii and would like advice on what games to get.

I been out of the loop for the Wii since they first came out. (had one and traded it :() so now that I got my new one I want some games and not shovel ware, I know of the major titles, but not the hidden gems, all I have so far is MadWorld. so any advice on what are good games will help me out. thank you. ::D
 
Brawl- This is why I own a Wii.
The only other games I have for my Wii (Besides shovelware that came with it) are Guitar Hero's and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which is a real interactive game, the only one I've played on the Wii, in fact.

I would recommend Virtual Console/WiiWare titles, I like them a lot more than most of the games I've played on the Wii.
 
House of The Dead: Overkill
No More heroes 1&2
Castlevania Judgment (if you find it cheap)
Fire Emblem for wii if you had the Gamecube one
Tatsunoko vs Capcom

Brawl is alright, me and my friends haven't played it together in years and just play Powerstone 2 instead xD
As for WiiWare:
Cave Story and Muscle March
 
all nintendo titles with the exception of the party ones (mario galaxy 1 and 2, metroid prime trilogy,) the trauma center series is pretty darn good specially its wii iterations.

Muramasa the demon blade is a hidden gem for the wii that just is straight up awesome. If you like on-rail shooters and resident evil games then i recommend darkside chronicles and umbrella chronicles.
 
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. If you like Silent Hill, this is a pretty good reimagining of the first game.

..and I'd like to echo the sentiment that No More Heroes and the sequel are quite possibly two of the best for the Wii. Muramasa is also a close second favorite for me, it is so good I can't stop playing it long after completing it.

Also I'd recommend that if you have a large interest in the retro titles on the Virtual Console, that you may want to look into hacking your Wii so you can play the proper emulators of those classic systems. The emulators provided by the homebrew community far surpass those that Nintendo use on their own VC platform, with the exception of the N64 titles.
 
Just want to reiterate that egameaddiction.com does not endorse nor condone hacking your Wii to play emulators and illegal ROMs.

Homebrew is a different story and legal, but still. Please do not ask publicly on the forums on how to perform this procedure.
 
I would like to know what game developer or game company told you that ROM's are legal as long as you own the original game? As far as I know that is false information. In the legal section of game manuals it specifically states you cannot reproduce the game for ANY reason, "including archival or back up copies".

Can I backup my computer software?
Yes, under certain conditions as provided by section 117 of the Copyright Act. Although the precise term used under section 117 is “archival” copy, not “backup” copy, these terms today are used interchangeably. This privilege extends only to computer programs and not to other types of works.

Under section 117, you or someone you authorize may make a copy of an original computer program if:

* the new copy is being made for archival (i.e., backup) purposes only;
* you are the legal owner of the copy; and
* any copy made for archival purposes is either destroyed, or transferred with the original copy, once the original copy is sold, given away, or otherwise transferred.

You are not permitted under section 117 to make a backup copy of other material on a computer's hard drive, such as other copyrighted works that have been downloaded (e.g., music, films).

I haven't seen a legal section in a manual although I see on discs it says that unauthorized copies, reproductions, public broadcasts, etc. may be in violations of laws, but I'm thinking they're just saying that so people don't. I'm sure if it was it would be clearly marked as illegal
 
Hmmm...I am confused because I don't see how computer software is the same as console video games? And I have the manuals right in front my face that specifically say you cannot make back up copies. Not trying to be argumentative here, but it seems that there is still a lot of gray area on this matter.

They are pretty much bundled together, if you see it even uses Music and movies as an example if they were downloaded.

"it is also important to check the terms of sale or license agreement of the original copy of software in case any special conditions have been put in place by the copyright owner that might affect your ability or right under section 117 to make a backup copy. There is no other provision in the Copyright Act that specifically authorizes the making of backup copies of works other than computer programs even if those works are distributed as digital copies."

Pretty much how they put it is it's alright unless otherwise stated by the publisher or whatever, and even then they only mention third parties (like making a copy for someone other than yourself). I checked my Marvel vs Capcom 2 for Dreamcast and Street Fighter 4 for PS3 and they both did not have a legal section in the manual and only mentions copying on the disc which states the whole third party thing. Although I did find the PDF for Resident Evil 5 and it also says that you may make a copy for yourself only and not for a third party.

Which game did you check x2? Chances are it probably only means that if you do not have possession of the game
 
ummm this topic is getting out of hand, how did it go from me getting recommendations on games; to roms and mods? I just wanted to know what games to get.
 
The game is Midnight Club but I have seen the exact same thing in other manuals. In fact, here is a bit straight from Nintendo's mouth-

"Can I Download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I Already Own the Authentic Game?

There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet."

Note the highlighted word...So, I think it is safe to say ROM's are not entirely legal and the whole backup thing is indeed false information.
 
Yeah Downloading is illegal since it was not made with the game you own but making your own back-up from your own game is fine :)

Back on topic though, Warioware smooth moves is good, I love the warioware series ;D
 
Lol riiiiiight, since so many people are making their own ROM's. Give me a break. It's illegal to download ROM's which is exactly what 99% of people using ROM's do.

Edit: Sorry Snatcher not trying to get an attitude with you lol. I'm just against ROM's because people are using them for new games which is not helping the industry.
