The updates between the GBA to SP and DS to Lite were less than two years each.

That's just ridiculous.

Thats just good marketing on behalf of Nintendo -they know its gonna sell so they sell and make mucho dinero - if the updates are there then UPDATE - I think Nintendo knows what they're doing when they go about this stuff

Agreed. Updates benefit everyone. The consumer gets a better product and the company that is producing it can turn a profit.

The point is, those upgrades shouldn't be necessary. A system should, at most, have one iteration after its initial one. But adding features that should have been there anyways... no.

What features might this be on the DS, for example? The original DS is perfectly equipped in every fashion from top to bottom... It doesn't have the higher quality screen, but I honestly thought the DS screen rocked when it came out..

Now the SP on the other hand.. the GBA certainly should have had a backlight screen, but Nintendo's goal is always to have these systems out at affordable prices. I'm going to go ahead and replay the standard response: the technology wasn't cheap enough. Is it true? Don't know. But I do know Nintendo went with frontlighting, which isn't nearly as good, with the SP. Was it still not cheap enough for their standards? Again, I don't know. .

Or Nintendo knows that if they come out with several different versions they will all sell at high rates and thus more money and we all know its all about the MONEY

the only exception that I hate about the whole Gameboy thing is the Micro... i don't know how that sold but if it made them money then more power to em, if not then it was an incredibly stupid idea

Well I think they wanted to make the micro cool for kids. They were trying to promote it by saying it was hi tech like an ipod and could fit on a keychain...

You got it. There is absolutely no need for this immense storage capacity.

First off, Blue ray maxes out at 25 to 50 gigs, as opposed to HD-DVD holds 15 gigs. And please, will someone please clarify wether it's 25 or 50? Anyways, there is a game coming out titled, "Predator," which uses up 22 gigs of memory. "Wether that translates into a better game or not has yet to be seen."

-During the current launch time-frame, developers have a hard time using all the space given effectively, but I'm sure that as time progrsses and game creators learn how to make better use of the space and understand the dev-kits more, games will grow exponentially in quality and length. Unlike computers, where new technology comes out almost every 6 months, developers have a hard time adjusting to the newer system, unlike consoles, which usually have a 5year life span, in which developers can utilize the system better and more fully, enabling them to make better graphics than a technologically advanced computer game.

Both. Single Layer Blu-Ray Discs are 25, while the Dual Layer Discs are 50.

Reading about the hardware, it is definitely worth $600. Will parrents pay $600 for one Christmas present? Depends on the parrents. Would I pay that much for one game system for my kids? (if i had any) no. Sony has effectively chosen their market and it will be the technofiles ;-)

On paper it's a deal, but it still comes down to the person's income. If they can afford it and they want it, then go for it. If not then you're better off buying a different system or none at all.

Well, basically, it comes down to this. They can release it early (as in the console is done, but not many have been produced) or they can release it a few months later, when there is a much greater portion of the demand is going to be filled. Either way, the amount of systems out at a given time will be very similar.

Like, is say 400,000 PS3's are being released in November, and by February 250,000 more will be out, if they delayed launch until February they would still only have 650,000 units to sell.
