Actions speak louder than words. The President has spoken such things but his actions have been the opposite. To reach out to a political party whose view points are the opposite from yours means you put yourself into a position to compromise. The President hasn't done that and as I have already said, he doesn't have too. With the majority that he holds, he has the power to do whatever he wants. And he can thumb his nose at the republicans, but he has Nancy Pelosi to do that for him.
That's what I don't understand. He's the most powerful man on earth. Why is he being too passive and even taking into consideration what republicans say.Why can't he just say,to hell with y'all I'm doing it anyway?

I understand people don't agree with this bill, I don't at the moment, but there have been a lot of problems that were set before he was even president. So to say that we're paying for his mistakes is a little too premature. He's only been in office for a year but still hasn't made as many "mistakes" as the president before him.

In theory, it helps those who have a regular job that doesn't provide benefits. When I was in college, it sucked not having health care coverage when I was both working and going to school. Personally, I would rather be healthy and slightly in debt than to be not be in debt and be unhealthy.

Like I said before, time will tell. It's obviously going to be expensive in the beginning. It always is no matter what you're trying to do. My hope is that eventually prices will come down once everyone is healthy and the need to see a doctor drops. Again, this is all in theory.

I honestly cannot imagine how much better off this country would be if people got healthier. The economic impact of our obesity rates and other sickness' is staggering.

That is just the point. He is not tanking into consideration anything that the republicans are saying. His major problems are with his own party that he is the leader of. They are his major block in getting anything done. Not the republicans.

Then why are all the republicans always giving him a hard time about his actions?

My guess is because he's dealing with issues that either dont need to be dealt with, he's dealing with issues that need to be dealt with, but he's doing it the wrong way, or that he's not dealing with issues that need to be handled.

They are a scared little bunch in the corner of the house that have no power right now, and they are very unified. They are an easy target to blame things on. It draws attention away from the fact that the democrats are a very divided party right now. None of the republican party voted on the healthcare bill that just passed and it did not make any difference whatsoever. Not all of the democrats voted for it. The president had to make deals with his own party to get this bill passed. There are a lot of the democratic party, that, to a certain extent, agree with some of the republican's concerns with this bill.
The republicans are more like a fly that is flying around the presidents head, irritating, and you are constantly shooing it away.
What is really going to blow things is if the Americans are really upset over this enough that in the mid-term elections, vote to get rid of a lot of those who voted on this bill and diminish the President's power to do things.

what do i think?

i agree with grindspine and the general consensus in this thread..

did health care NEED reform..yes. was this the way to go about it? no.

so the bill is 2000pages long, made by people who already get the BEST healthcare (Sterling), and signed by (no offense) a president who is a chain smoker.

no, i see NO problems with this. :lol

Being a smoker I can say that all smokers say that they're wanting to quit.Almost never happens.Especially Obama, the pressure he's under,he'll never quit.

Good point. It would not be easy for him, that's for sure.

Is Your Dentist Wicked Expensive Like Mine Is?

I know that dentists charge a lot,and under most circumstances I understand. That's what I thought until my old man broke a piece off his tooth and needed a filling. He was looking for a new dentist,so I referred him mine.

Dad get's home after the appointment and tells me(as good as you can with a mouth full of cotton)that the doctor charged him $287.00 for the filling!!

That blew my mind.I couldn't believe it.You can buy a new PS3 for that kind of money!!
I understand that different fillings can vary in price, but that much.? No way.Just a tad excessive,No?

Godspeed.
