Re: Here it is people the moment we've all been waiting for

let me just say this- videogame controllers are the only two handed interfaces in technology

I don't really see what you're trying to say here. That its a bad thing controllers use both hands, or a good thing, or something else entirely?

skepitcal is fun but think of it like alchohol- tastes like crap at first but then you figure out what its good for.

You must not be from Canada, cuz up here, everyone loves beer. :lol

Re: Here it is people the moment we've all been waiting for

A keyboard is a 2 handed interface :p

It doesn't matter if it is one or two handed though, it is whether it works well or not. They have made one-handed controllers before, they just haven't sold well for whatever reason.

This is true?? I have never seen a single-hand controller.

As for the argument about having to point it at the screen or whatever. And how uncomfortable it is. I see no difference between this and wireless controllers. You still have to at least have those controllers pointed at the general direction of the pick-up on the console. And I also see nothing wrong about this controller if it were designed to be single-handed.

in addition the simplicity of control afforded by this controller will greatly soften the learning curve, requiring less prior experience and coordition to play the games.
You say this as if someone is grading us and our futures are at stake if we get "dumbed down" because of this controller. I see this argument as pointless. Because now we'll have to learn how to use this controller with the same skill if it is indeed "one-hand only." besides, isn't technology driven by making everything easier??

I'll try to look it up...it won't be easy. They were called "The Glove" and they were made for the Playstation 1 and the Sega Something or other. I remember the ads in my Tips and Tricks magazine.

Re: Here it is people the moment we've all been waiting for

I remember the Nintendo Power Glove, but I don't really count that as a controller. Mainly because it doesn't look like it was designed for normal use.

Cool. It's for the Genesis, right??
However I don't see the similarities between the Rev controller and the glove controllers. The glove controllers, you wear. So it can be restrictive. With the Rev controller, you hold. I'm seeing apples and oranges...

Re: Here it is people the moment we've all been waiting for

I'm merely saying that glove controllers belong in their own catagory.

Controllers>One Handed>Remotes>Nintendo Revolution Controller
Controllers>One Handed>Gloves>Sega Saturn Glove

I was just saying they were both one-handed controllers.

If you want to talk about apples and oranges, then look no further than your comparison of the revolution controller and wireless controllers. Having the controller point in the general direction of your console and having to point the controller in specific spots and movements on your TV are very different.

I'm not saying its going to be an unbearable experience to have to point the remote at the screen, but I could easily see it becoming tedious and annoying.

Re: The Recently Revealed Nintendo Revolution Controller

As I don't really visit this place much anymore, I didn't see this topic, I saw it in another forum. My god, when I saw that that THING was going to be the main controller, I must of knocked myself out banging my head on the desk. Just what are Nintendo thinking? It's not a controller, it's some demented remote control! I'm starting to agree with all the things Neph used to say...Nintendo are just getting stupid. Trying to come up with these new little strange ideas is cute and all, but seriously, enough is enough! I just want the Nintendo I used to know and love. There's no way I can play a top notch Zelda or Super Smash Bros. with a freakin' remote control! Give me a REAL controller, one that requires two hands to use and an actual analog stick.

I guess you didnt really read the whole topic then. You will get a regular controller shell so that you can use that instead of having to use the "remote". Plus how can you be so certain you cant play those games with this controller?

Re: The Recently Revealed Nintendo Revolution Controller

It's still going to blow unless they change that remote (I refuse to call it a controller) for a REAL controller.

I hope this controller shell at leasts comes free, and is decent controller, otherwise this is going to hell.

I've been a loyal Nintendo fan, and have stuck with them even though they get stupider...but i'm just so angry about this...

Honestly I really dont see whats to get angry about. They arent forcing you to buy the machine. Try it out before you buy. See how it feels and what it can do. As much as I love video games I dont get this upset over just a controller and I dont see why anybody else does. As far as I know it still up in the air whether they will include it free, but I got a feeling they will.

Re: The Recently Revealed Nintendo Revolution Controller

The revo controller isn't the only demented controller - the PS3 one looks terrible as well.

Re: Revolution controller to be revealed

Well, they are making a shell, in which IGN made a Mock-up shell, which represents a GC controller. Chances are it will mostly be used for 3rd party games.
