Snyder recreated the graphic novel too well, from what I heard. He did a straight adaptation, but forgot about the fact that he was making a movie so it came off very stiff and slow. If only they had gotten a good director to work on the movie...Fr0dus Maximus said:Like the cinematography was amazing. But, some parts were a bit boring and the use of licensed music was overdone. If you barely read the comic you would probably not like it.

I remember ranting and raving about how The Dark Knight had been the most enjoyable movie I'd seen since The Fellowship of the Ring, and I thought it would be another 5 years or so before I loved anything that much again, but the Watchmen absolutely nailed it. The story was fantastic, and the storytelling equally great. The characters involved were so rich and well drawn that any one of them could have had their own movie and it would have been incredibly entertaining. The actors, for the most part, each played their roles incredibly well. The one exception maybe would be the chick member of the Watchmen (Spectre's daughter I think), but what she lacked in acting ability she made up for in hotness. The music was perfectly suited to both the time period and the emotional weight of each scene, from Bob Dylan to Simon and Garfunkel to Jimmy Hendrix, the music never failed to add another layer of depth to already powerful scenes. Everything... just... WOW!
I should mention that I have not read the comics, so if there were discrepancy's (the end, I'm told, is quite different) I can't comment on those. I did have to ask a few questions about some of the characters (for people who don't have superpowers they sure fight like they do) for backstory and explanation (Rorschach's mask for ex.), but none of that really got in the way of my enjoyment of the movie.
In my opinion, an absolute must see. It is something different, and extraordinary, and the finesse with which it is accomplished leaves one wondering why there aren't more movies out there like this.

The blue weenie was in the graphic novel too (not quite as noticeable though) so it was probably out of loyalty to the source material that it was put in the movie.Strubes said:Me n my friend were just talking about that. It's almost like they wanted to prove a point or something. The movie receives a 3/5 from me. Rorschach was awesome though.

Zidart said:well at least they are trying to make it as similar as it's source material as possible.... something some movies don't do nowadays
