What Books are you reading?

mmkay, 700 pages and I'm about ready to give up. This book is such a mess. I've been reading like crazy because it always seems like something significant is about to happen, but instead I get hundreds of pages of random barely connected events thrown in there just so she can demonstrated her philosophy again, using lifeless and uninteresting characters. Not only that but everything is suddenly focused on money. Whereas the Fountainhead glorified individualism, art for art's sake, and not letting the opinion of the masses change that art, Atlas Shrugged now makes the ability to make money the ultimate virtue that should stand above all else. I feel like she's spitting right in the fact of every ideal she presented in the Fountainhead because, by the standards of Atlas Shrugged, Roark should have conformed to public opinion and start creating buildings that would satisfy the customer the most. This idea that everything should be hinged on money just destroys any notion of individualism she previously shows, as anyone who has no interest in making money suddenly has no virtue. Such single-mindedness would cause people to focus on their customers rather than themselves, the collective rather than the individual.

I finished reading Breaking Dawn, the last book in the Twilight series. Now I'm sad because there's no more. :(

I liked it so much more than I thought. ^_^

Dang. I'm still reading Atlas Shrugged and I've noticed this slightly. (Not that far yet XD) I loved The Fountainhead. That was the basis of Objectivism was defined in it and I can see where you're comnig from in Atlas Shrugged. The philosophy in it isn't as strong. :/

I just finished reading Scott Pilgrim: Precious Little Life, Im going to read read it in preparation for Scott Pilgrim: Versus the World. heh, it appears that they are making Scott Pilgrim into a movie

Yeah, the Fountainhead was all about glorifying the individual, and I really liked that. I can't help but feel that that spirit of individualism has been betrayed. :-\

That's why I liked Roark. Dagny is more like Dominique in the beginning of Fountainhead. I kinda thought of it that way.

When Dominique stopped caring what society thought, I liked her better that way instead of her being manipulative.

Same. A bit on the long side, but still a good read
It took me a while to read because I was busy and I kinda took a moment to think of the chapter when it ended. I'm just odd like that. :lol

Ellsworth was a crazy character! I thought he was a nice generous guy until towards the end when he had that long big conversation with Keating on how he was going to take over the Wynand papers. I do however, love the Roark speech at the trial. XD
