I think the controller scheme will be find as long as they don't make us buy each one separately and then have some games that require a controller that doesn't come with the system :sick

Unless I'm completely mistaken there is a more traditional controller included with the system. I think this controller is going to be used for some of the virtual console games and perhaps even some of the newer Wii games that won't use the nunchuk setup. Please correct me if I'm wrong...which has been known to happen once or twice ;)

As for my opinion...I like it, I think it'll be hard to get used to and possibly frustrating (I forsee sports games being the hardest for me to get used to) but I think we'll all settle in eventually. Just like we did when we got the first analog sticks.

Im not exactly sure either, but I dont believe the VCSC(Virtual Console System Controller) will be used for anything but the Virtual Console. The Gamecube controller will be used to play SSBB,but that's the only traditional controller that will be used in playing the WII

Well there's this thing here...

I don't know that it'll come with the system but I like the look of it and I hope that some games will use it. Like regular FF type rpg's for instance. Not every game will really fit the Nintendo wand controller. As far as it coming bundled with the system I've not read that but I kind of hope so. :D

I hope it will be used for some Wii games too,but I dont think it will be.Just for the Virtual Console,I believe

What are your opinions on them.I personally am not too fond of them, but lets hear your opinions?

To get this thread going,I think the nunchuck/remote combo will be hard to get used to.

I think you will come to find this statement erroneous (not meant to sound cocky or aggressive) when the Wii becomes an experience in your personal life. Reading about this information does you no good, particularly if you desire to understand whether or not it will be "comfortable". You will find that the Wiimote and etc are extremely comfortable, but more importantly, intuitive to the utilization of such... When you lay your hands on Mario Galaxy, you'll understand a little clearer. It's just like magic, make no mistake. It's easy and very well done. I'm not being pompous! Try it!

Yes,it has great potential, but since when do things ever reach theirs?I would like for Nintendo to make a traditional controller, and give you an option to buy the nunchuck/remote combo for an extra payment,or just a traditional controller with purchase.I think it will more likely frustrate the players than reach it's potential. So once again, what are your thoughts?

Not only does Nintendo offer the classic controller as has been addressed here, but more importantly, Nintendo offers the utilization of the Gamecube controller (perhaps with out-of-box Wavebird compatiblity, to boot. . ). Nintendo, however, will likely try to shy away from the usage of that controller for AT LEAST the launch window in order to show consumers and developers that the Wiimote is not merely some gimmick. However, as time passes, I believe you'll begin to notice an insurgence in the amount of games which utlize the old control scheme as it becomes a more accepted practice as the Wii itself becomes more accepted. Does this make sense?

To further prove my point, a game that isn't launching with the system - Super Smash Bros. Brawl - is going to utilize the Gamecube controller. For a long time the fears of my self and many others were that the game would be dumbed down for Wiimote utilization, since Nintendo is pushing it so hard. But my fears (and many others') were relieved to find that the game would use the GCN controller for more accurate gaming - as it should be. This shows that Nintendo isn't afraid to make compromise if the alternative IS a smarter solution. In other words, don't lack faith. The games will come and Nintendo will make the right choice.

Wait 'till you play it. I promise.

Well, even a simple game like FF that utlized classic control schemes (IE: basic) would be easily playable with nunchuk setting. Why? Because you have A) an analog stick that functions as per normal and B) four traditional buttons within easy access of your fingers between the Wiimote and the nunchuk.

In other words, it wouldn't be difficult to play a traditional game if you preferred with the Wiimote. However, "traditional" games will likely offer that opportunity as well as the traditional style, if not a shelled style.

I wonder how many games will not be Wiimote games. For instance we all know there will be Madden games on the Wii. Will they utilize the Wiimote or will they utilize the classic controller, the one I posted above, for their games. It's something I've been wondering about. Maybe in time all games will become compatible with the Wiimote but maybe at least in the beginning they may not. Plus when you factor in a Madden, I hate the Madden games but I'm using them as reference only, a 3rd party game that will be on all 3 next gen systems, will they develop a whole separate control system just for the Wii? Something to think about.

No need to think more my friend as Madden has been announced already to take advantage of the Wiimote. Just check out some of the latest game magazines to see how it is used, or maybe even IGN.com has the info.

So they will utilize the Wiimote technology and program in the completely different control system for the Wii version of the game then? Maybe it's not as different to program as I seem to think it is? :D

I may have missed someone mentioning it here, but I heard (don't hold me to this) that the wiimote will be able to be plugged into a shell of the GC controller, therefore maintaining the wireless capability like the wave bird.

And as far as the wand itself? I think it has potential, I just hope they go in the right direction with it. I am still excited about it, even if I have trouble picturing how smooth it'll work.

The classic controller doesn't look very comfortable, though-but maybe that's just me....

It looks like it's going to feel like the SNES controller. Personally those don't feel so well now since my hands have gotten bigger since I was 7 years old. It doesn't look much to comfortable for me either.

It fits a lot better than the SNES controller. The SNES still has that feel the NES controller has - a weird little block in your hands.

The Wii Classic controller is a lot more ergonomic, though not as much as say - the GCN controller. It's comfortable and will serve your needs quite adequately.

At least it's not the N64 controller..that thing was just annoying. I like the SNES controller, prob. since that was the controller I used from 5 to 11 yrs. old. eh, I could live with it. :)

I liked the N64 controller. I don't think there could have not been a better configuration for single stick FPS games, like Goldeneye. Not to mention that it was perfect for Mario 64 and Zelda. So I would have to disagree with you there.

I played the PSone, so I wasn't used to it, and if I play the N64 now, I just don't like it.....that's just me. The best controller, to me, is the PS2 Dualshock analog controller-my hands fit it perfectly, and I feel comfortalbe with one in my hands while playing games.
